I don't see why Rayvon doesn't have more fans. He seems like a nice guy and isn't a horrible singer

I think it is because he often comes across as very calculated, rehearsed, and fake. He just seems very disingenuous to me and sometimes a little arrogant. When I look at him performing I just don't see anything real coming through his eyes. He makes all the right motions but in almost a soulless, robotic way. It could be that he is trying so hard to be perfect that he loses some of that human vulnerability that people find appealing or it could be that he genuinely thinks he is better than everyone else.
I think he gets saved because in the moment when people have just heard him sing (and nobody is denying that he has technical chops) they favor his performance but then when it is down to the regular voting people just cannot connect with his practiced, plastic facade.

I think that with Rayvon you can tell he's very polished and I honestly think that comes from his studies. He went to Belmont and studied Commercial Music.

After tonight I want to keep Rayvon and Quentin and send Jax home instead. Oh well. Here are my opinions.

Jax - Not that good, some parts at the beginning were too breathy.

Nick - It sounds like he is just shouting parts of this song. I have heard better.

Clark - That was beautiful. I love that song. I have read some criticism that Yesterday is not an arena anthem but you can't forget that The Beatles were probably the first arena rock band.

Tyanna - Sweet words from her mom. This is good but I think she forgot some of the words. That song was the go to party song for my daughter and her friends when they were in high school. It brings back good memories of watching them jumping around singing this.

Quentin - Love this, he has just the right emotion.

Rayvon - That was good. He has a great voice.

Nick - This was better than his first song but still a little too frenetic.

Tyanna - That was pretty, she has a pretty voice.

Clark - Something different from Clark but I liked it better than the judges.

Jax - I liked that better than her first song but the high notes were a little rough.

Quentin - I liked this. Good answer to Harry's question.

Rayvon - That was not his best, I think he sounded kind of tired until that last note.

Boo! The show will miss Quentin.

Next week, the finalists will perform two songs – one connected to the judges’ hometowns, and the other a song that defines their “soul.”

Harry Connick Jr. is the entertainment. He’ll be performing his song “City Beneath the Sea.”


In addition, The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team stars Abby Wambach and Alex Morganannounced that the American Idol 14 winner will have the added honor of recording the official anthem for FOX Sports’ coverage of FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2015™. In addition to recording the anthem, a music video is also planned, featuring the IDOL winner performing the song, which FOX Sports plans to feature leading up to and throughout the month-long tournament as the U.S. takes on the world this summer.

Gosh, poor Quentin. I wouldn't call his incident a tantrum at all. He's a very low key guy. And he explained himself, guess no one heard that part.

Anyway, it's fine that Rayvon is still around. I don't think he will win. I thought Jax did great, Clark and Tyanna were good. I do not get the fuss about Nick. To me, it sounds like he has about a three note range. And sometimes he only uses one of them. He's nice to look at, I'll grant that.

Watched the whole show. I liked JAX and Clark. Thought Tyanna's hair was pretty, her performances OK. Rayvon was good, Nick was good. Q was good,seemed less angry. In previous years I was more passionate about who I wanted to win.

Arena Anthems.....Top 6 Show


Hope everyone is well.
Another week, another show! And I really wish JLo would remember that less is not more. I don't really enjoy seeing her boo-boos falling out of her dress.

• Jax – I wasn't wow'ed by this performance. I really wish she would push that little bit more with her song choice and performances.
• Nick – I don't get Nick but there's no denying that he’s beginning to grow on me. Nice performance with Harder to Breathe.
• Clark - *sigh* I totally get Clark. Today, tomorrow and Yesterday.
• Tyanna – Did she get weaves? I love the new look. Glad she's through to the next round.

Bottom two.

• Quentin – Sadly, I think you're going home irrespective of what you sing tonight.
• Rayvon – You're going to be going on tour irrespective of what you sing tonight.

Arena Anthem theme, right? I sure hope round 2 song choices fit the theme better.

• Nick – Did he use a sharper razor this week? That 5 o'clock shadow seems a lot lighter this week. Maggie Mae was a very good song choice for him.
• Tyanna – I didn't like this song choice. She was a little sharp and a lot flat throughout the whole song and not much on pitch. If this is the type of song that she's comfortable with, then I won't be out there buying her albums.
• Clark – Is it bad to admit that I'm not a Justin Bieber fan? That being said....I really don't like this song choice for Clark. OMG! Harry and I are on the same wavelength tonight!
• Jax – A piano, an elegant up-do, white dress and a soulful melody with lots of scope for emotive singing. This is what Jax does best. Performance of the night for me.

Bottom two again.

• Quentin – Does it really matter what you sing tonight?
• Rayvon – Does it really matter what you sing tonight? But what the heck was that last note? My eyes are still watering!

My top 3 this week were Jax, Nick and Clark. It was a toss-up for me as to who was the best of the night.

Such a shame that Quentin had that little 'turn' last week. Might have been interesting to see how the voting would have gone if not for last week.
