My order for last night:

1. Candice
2. Kree
3. Angie
4. Janelle
5. Amber

I thought while both Kree and Candice had their moments, they weren't as good as they usually are. I really liked Angie's first performance and then thought the second was ok. I didn't know either of the songs that Janelle did, but thought she did well on both of them. Amber I just don't get at all. I'm definitely not hearing what the judges are.

:thumbsup2

No we do not get her at all....I swear we all must live in an alternate universe America from the judges

I don't understand all the hate for Amber. I think she's good. Obviously others do too or she wouldn't be in the top 5.

Have to admit I was prepared to not enjoy Amber singing Barbra....but it was good, not the best of the night.

I thought her Barbra song was good too.

I like Janelle, but I think her time to leave has come. Wasn't crazy about the Vince Gill song she sang, and I think she could have picked a much better Dolly song like Coat of Many Colors, or Jolene.

I'm hoping for a Candice/Kree final, but would buy all of the albums that will be coming out from the Top 5.

Hey, MANDY!! I have a question for you, since you seem to know a lot about Nashville's music. Have you heard of Steven Whitson? He has been in Nashville 3 years now, started out singing at The Legend downtown, and now gives tours of Fontanel (Barbara Mandrell's home) and sings/writes songs. We toured the home and were lucky enough to get Steven as our guide, and he sang us two of his original songs. He has opened for Craig Morgan, Rascal Flatts, among others and has written songs with quite a few famous people. He was on the "Marie Osmond" show yesterday on the Hallmark channel. I think he's really good, and just wondered if you've heard about him, or maybe seen him/know him, and what you think about him?

She IS good. But I don't think she's half as good as the judges are told to say. Like I said, I think she's good but not GREAT. She seems to have a bit of an attitude based on the little side things they show about the singers, also.

Last week telling Beyonce to "watch out" and comparing her to Whitney Houston numerous times has turned me off. I think if they weren't so fake impressed I wouldn't have gotten so ticked but that's just me. I don't like being told who's good, I like deciding that for myself.

And as for America not GETTING her, she's in the top five of a group that really only had 5 good singers, or five females that they were determined to get thru. Heck, Lazaro made it to the top ten, too...what does THAT say about "America"? Other than that I think there are only 2 1/2 REALLY good singers of the five, but that's just ME. ;)

Well, I liked Lazaro too... :) Until he started choosing songs with too many low parts that he couldn't sing well. Loved his upper register, and thought he was such a cutie, I could understand all the young girls voting for him. I truly felt bad for him the way some of the judges were so nasty to him.

Wow, Nancy have you noticed this year we aGREE????

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I know...like I said it's an alternate universe this year :lmao:

Also..for Amber, I don't think she is bad but I do not think she is as good as the judges are trying to make us think she is. She would do fine in a recording studio because they can fix it when her notes are off or when the notes are too low for her so you can't even hear her. I hate to say it but she reminds me of Taylor Swift. I never thought she (Taylor) could sing all that well but studios can fix things and as she has gotten older I notice her voice coming into it's own and it's sounding much better when she sings live.

I don't "judge" the judges tooooo much, at this point they seem to all be reading scripts. They push and gush over some people and then knock some people no matter WHAT they do. It's been that way since Simon left.

Agreed. I think if they think they have a LOOK that will be enough. :confused3 I frankly find her as attractive as Taylor Swift which means not at all. :rolleyes1

I could care less about a "look", I want a sound when I have on my headphones. And I'd prefer an uncorrected studio sound, RARE in this day and age.

I haven't heard of him actually. I'll try and look into his stuff later.

I think my thing with Amber is I can't see myself buying her music and she's not as great vocally as they fawn over her. She reminds me of Jessica from last season with the fawning. The same with Angie, great vocalist but she dang peaked to soon on Idol. Maybe she'll stick around to redeem herself when they bring original music into the competition. I would rather Janelle stay over Amber, I enjoy her voice more then Amber's and she at least tries and you can't really help but love the personality she has, same with Kree and Candice.

I can't figure out why they don't mention "musical theatre" anymore. When Angie sings, all I can think is that she has those Sarah Brightman eyes and mannerisms...I think Angie should schedule some auditions for Broadway pronto. To me, that's her niche. (And I don't dislike Sarah Brightman, it's just in her biz there is plenty of very dramatic acting that is equally important as a great voice.)
I agree about Amber, I really don't know where she fits, musically.
I hope Janelle stays. I've seen growth with her, and I don't think she's peaked yet. Of course, I love Candice and Cree.

Agreed. She's just to dramatic on stage for my liking. I know Kree gets told she has no personality that shows through but Carrie didn't either and now look at her. I think if Kree makes it to original song time we will really see her.

Geez louise, where is this kids pr control...

summary from MJ's blog: He basically accuses the producers of backstage manipulations in order to acheive an all-female Top 5. “There’s no way 5 guys could have left in a row,” he insists. The key change in his disastrous “Close to You” performance was decided 5 minutes before he took the stage. Also, his Beatles’ week song, “In My Life” was not his first choice. He planned to sing “Ticket to Ride” but it was changed by producers.

Janelle is adorable, and humble as heck. :goodvibes

Angie will excel in Bway, her look is way too extreme for close ups and HD. She reminds me of Liza Minelli with her eyes and movements! I loved how she had the gall to try to teach Candice how to relate to the audience. Candice is a stand by the mic and BLOW kind of singer like Celine and Barbra, Angie needs to sit down at the piano and never move again.
