Did anyone else hear a bizzare scream/growl during Candice's performance, or is my TV possessed? I had to keep rewinding to make sure I really heard it...

yes.......I thought for a minute it was someone outside!

I'm watching it now- Kree's second performance is on. This has been by far the worst theme night in a long time. SO boring. I did find it funny how desperate they seem for Lazaro to go now that he made top 3. Randy acts like they never put him through in the first place! :rotfl:

Hi everyone. My internet connection wouldn't let me post last night but here are my opinions of AI. Overall I enjoyed most of the performances, it was a pretty good night.

Angie - I just don't get her. The first song was not very good. Her second was better. My religious friends on Facebook loved her so she has that going for her. I admire her conviction but that doesn't mean I like her voice.

Amber - She was way over praised by the judges. I actually liked her first song but hated the second. I really don't like the sound of Beyonce's voice so it is no surprise that I am not a fan of Amber since she tries to sound like her. Her voice is just not full enough.

Lazaro - Yuck and yuck.

Kree - Loved both of her performances. Her voice is so pretty, it never gets shrill or tinny like Amber or Angie. The Kris Kristofferson song is one of my favorites and Kree sang this beautifully.

Janelle - I liked both of her performances. She is not at Candice's or Kree's level but she is so much better than Amber or Angie. She sings songs and in a style that I would want to listen to.

Candice - Both of her performances were beautiful. Her voice is full and beautiful.

I would be happy with either Candice or Kree winning the whole thing. My votes went to Janelle because I think she deserves to stay over Amber or Angie (and of course Lazaro). Janelle is not a judge favorite and I don't think she is getting a fair shake in their reviews. They over praise everything Amber does and nitpick Janelle so Janelle gets my votes until they are down to three. Then I hope to get to pick between Candice or Kree.

I agree with everything you said!

They were REALLY unfair to Janelle and the OVER admiration of Amber even shocked her! She is a good singer when comparing her to just anyone but to compare her to Whitney Houston and Beyonce is an insult to both of them. She sounds immature and has no bottom to her voice. She about 3 to 5 years of experience to an excellent tone but she's not there yet.

That was a audio screw up. I listened to it over and it WAS creepy!! Dontcha LOVE live tv???? :hyper:

I agree, they are desparate for him to go. and they were downright rude to him and disrespectful. they are the ones who put him on the show to begin with. I just don't think it was called for to be so humiliating to him. So dismissive toward him. Good for him to not shed a tear and just listen and keep his head high........ I think the judges behavior will backfire on them and we will see Laz safe again.

Yes, the FB site has LOTS of diehard Laz fans, and NON fans, but you can't vote someone off, you can only keep them on.What they did made them more rabid, and between you me and the lamp post, I think that's what they wanted.

Laz causes buzz, he's the biggest topic on the FB page. I love the girls but they are NOT buzzworthy, not by a long shot. They want to keep him as long as possible, hopefully not too long.

DialIdol, for whatever they're worth, has Laz second to Candace... I know, say WHAT????? and Janelle bottom.

If Janelle leaves tonight I think they'll save the fake save for their favorite, Amber... which will always befuddle me...??? :confused3

Michael Slezak brought up the WEIRD SOUND during Candice's song! :lmao:

Candice Glover: The Cure’s “Love Song” | Are we in The Sixth Sense? Is anyone else capable of actually reading these words? Because Candice killed me dead — in the best possible way — when she gave “Love Song” an exhillerating jazz rearrangement. I mean, I’m not even kidding: About a third of the way through the song, I’m pretty sure the Holy Ghost hopped by the studio and whispered some kind of unintelligible utterance into the Idol mics — or maybe it was just a boom mic getting dropped? — that, when played backwards, spells “Vote Candice, you idiots!” I would’ve appreciated it if the directors had quit cutting to Randy for his pattented “this is great, dawg!” faces as Candice delivered that powerhouse vocal, but yeah, I’m gonna need to revise my Best Idol Performance gallery after witnessing another combination of vocal mastery and emotional rawness.
Grade: A+

EW.com always has the greatest recaps:

The only guy in the Top 6 crashes and burns; Candice Glover is in a class by herself

Sure, this episode featured possibly the worst performance ever on American Idol. But might it also have God's-gifted us the very, very best? CANDICE. FREAKING. GLOVER. You know when Mariah Carey throws glitter on someone instead of giving her a hug (can't touch the commoners, dahling) that you've witnessed something truly special.

The whole article:

I too think Laz did horrible, but wow, did they have to be so rude? I am glad he didn't start crying though.

We rewound it SEVERAL times! That was just flat out creepy. I would really like to know what happened there.

Yes, unfortunately, they did. They have now spent weeks trying to be kind and the American public keeps voting to keep Laz. They are trying another tactic to wake people up to the fact that he is not up to the level of the girls. American Idol has a lot to lose if he goes on to become the winner.

This is my thoughts if he wins idol, he will crumble. The media will rip him to shreds worse then they do. He won't be able to handle the stress of a career that idol demands. I just don't see him being marketable, and I don't think the judges are being near as harsh as could be.

I don't think they were nearly as rude as Nicki was the night the 3 guys sang. She tore ALL of them a new one and the only one who deserved it was the last man standing. Pathetic.:furious:

If he wins Idol, I think Idol will crumble. I really think that would send this show towards its demise.

I think if they actually tried to help him he might do better. They obviously saw something in him to bring him thru each round and put him on the show....why not help, him to get that back and develop it.
I actually thinkmif they did that he could be marketable

There is no excuse for the behaviour they displayed last night. .

I honestly don't think he would. They stacked all the boys to be weaker then the girls so it would be a girl winner. The most marketable and even then to me is questionable was Paul. He was semi decent to begin with but now he's just struggling to stay afloat. I just don't see a genre that he could be marketable in for idol standards.

LOL, Curtis is ticked off, too! :rotfl2: Found this on VFTW..

And this is exactly why this show should end. if that is true what about all the guys who tried out and were better than the weak bunch they chose on purpose?
Its sad for them that even though they are good they never stood a chance because they want a female idol.
This show has had its 15 min of fame. Its time to go now.

Sorry, if you've reached the top ten you should've had this together by now. There are millions of kids out there who are better, more psychologically ready and don't need the help of one marginally talented, one pathetic and two successful artists to get him thru performances he should have been prepared for.

My son is a singer and most of his friends are performers, also. They truly think the show is a joke. They take criticisms like you would not believe from their coaches and leaders and they use it to improve. There is no crying in the performance arts...unless you've been directed to do so.

AI knows what brings people to watch the show and Laz's story was a good one. People wanted him to succeed, especially after the way he was treated during Hollywood week. If he succeeded what a story that would've been. It didn't work out that way. He fumbled the ball so it's time to sit on the bench, not to be rallied and high fived. It's a travesty to the many many MANY people who had their dream diminished when they weren't chosen.
