i think if Colton puts out a Christian album, he will do REALLY well. i think he has a better chance of being successful at that versus a rock album. in fact, i would buy a Christian album. he's the only Idol who's FB i liked and he's been super positive. he seems like a genuinely nice guy. he also wasn't ashamed to share his faith, which is awesome. i hope he does well.

they DID waste the save on Jessica. regardless of what they think, she really has no chance of winning unless they fix it. i truly believe that Colton would've had a chance of winning if they'd have saved him. so sad.

and i feel badly because i didn't vote for him (i normally do) because i figured he was safe. i voted for Elise instead.

I watched when Elise came back from the bottom 3 everyone stood and hugged her expect Jessica.

I think I'm still in shock. Up until last night I really thought Colton was going to win it all. I never expected him to go before Elise, Jessica & Holly.

Sorry, but it can't be "fixed". It is illegal by Federal law to fix any show. Idol would risk fines & being pulled off the air.

I'm sad that I won't get to see Colton on the show anymore but I'm confident he's one of the few idols who'll actually make something of themselves (Phillip and Skylar being the other two).

Joshua, Hollie and Elise aren't fit to hold Colton's microphone and they know it. Jessica is a wannabe who'll never be.

Totally agree. I'm shocked Colton would go home before Elise especially. Not shocked Jessica is still there, I'm about 95 percent sure she is our next American Idol.

I always thought that AI avoided those 'game show' type rules by calling themselves a realty show. I'm not an authority so I could be wrong.

ETA: i went back and it says that producers have the right to remove any votes they think might be part of "power-dialing." hm.

It is just wrong, wrong, wrong that he is going before some of the others.

I'm thinking of you, Mandy. I know you were a fan of Colton's and were really looking forward to the hometown visit. Hope you will still be around after the disappointment fades. It probably will feel a little bitter for a while.

I'll be around, I've been grumbling a lot tonight. I'm still supporting Skylar and Phillip and dang it if Phillip makes top 3 I might roadtrip for that.

Unfortunately AI doesn't qualify as a game show so does not fall under the FCC laws.

Section 509 of the Communications Act, which governs "contests of knowledge, skill or chance," specifically covers only contests of "intellectual knowledge, intellectual skill, or chance," not singing competitions -- or, for that matter, cooking, dancing, hair-dressing or weight-loss competitions. In other words, its scope is more or less limited to traditional game shows, including trivia shows, not to elimination-style reality shows, which are essentially hybrids.

Adam had more long-term star power, but he became a 1-trick pony on the show. What's more, he peaked early where Kris came on strong at the end. I always thought Adam had tremendous talent, but we voted for Kris because we enjoyed his performances more in the closing weeks.

I do. We thought she was awful last week & actually FF'd through most of her solo. And a lot of people forget the non-solo performances. Elise/Phillip was a great duet even if Elise's solo performance wasn't the best. The trio of Jessica/Hollie/Skyler OTOH STUNK. And Jessica was by far the weakest of the 3 in that performance. If you look honestly at the night on the whole, Jessica deserved to be the lowest vote getter last week.

Roger Taylor and Brian May will be performing with the contestants on Wednesday. I’m sure there will be another theme. Hopefully we will find out what it is later tonight. Katy Perry will be performing on the Thursday results show, along with the Queen Official Tribute Band. Adam Lambert, who is fronting Queen for some summer concerts, will NOT be appearing, according to Reality Rocks. The Idol guest star will be Stefano Langone, who will debut his new single.

Sure it could be. Lots of things that are illegal happen every day. I am not saying AI is fixed but people do things against rules or laws all the time.

Congratulations! That sounds like a perfect reason to have not watched the entire show.

The more I think of last night's elimination, the madder I get. I think there are at least 3 if not 4 people who should go before Colton.

I heard some people talking this morning about how he got eliminated because he was talking too much about his religion. I am not at all religious and I didn't find anything he ever said the least bit offensive. I cannot stand when people throw religion in your face, I'm sensitive to this so if Colton was doing it I would have noticed it. He just seemed like a sweet, sensitive kid to me, one with a lot of talent. With the exception of Skylar, he was the best all around performer in my opinion.

At this point I am rooting hard for Skylar and Phillip. I would hope one of them makes it to the finals! If it's Jessica and Joshua I may just stop watching this show all together. I want raw talent and to be able to see heart and soul - which I only sometimes see in Joshua and never in Jessica. Hollie has a tremendous voice but isn't a great performer, and Elise has neither a great voice or a great performer.
