Eek :grouphug:

Well everyone in the path of these storms stay the heck safe!

this!

(wait. is anyone here one of those bugged by "this"?)

i do agree that Deandre needs some tutoring. i think, if he'd have sung the majority of the song in his lower register and then, at the end, done a key change and gone to falsetto, it would've been a little more pleasing to the ear. the in/out of chest/head voice just sounded like he didn't know what he was doing. he should set the key where he can do it more sensibly. i still don't love his falsetto, but it would be utilized better. at least for me.

the one thing about all of the falsettos that you all brought up is that they use(d) it properly. it made sense. does that make sense?

anyway, it will be fun to see how it all plays out. i do get caught up in Idol (although, not as much in recent seasons). but please, if i'm being a jerk, slap me with bacon too! :)

Last year I was uber ticked off about the "country" theme and I showed it. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and sarcasm is my way of showing it....

....YOU sarcastic?? Nahhhhh, really, go on.....popcorn::

I thought it was interesting that they chose to have the girls sing Whitney Houston songs next week as that has always seem to be one of their pet peeves.

so help me, if one of them dares tell someone that they shouldn't have attempted "that song" or something, i will scream so loud you all will hear me. don't give them Whitney Houston and then criticize them over song choice.

.....Last year someone got pissed and called Scotty "her guy".. :confused3 I may like the heck out of someone but they're not my "guy". We can be a fan without being fanatic...ya know what I mean? No one's child is being discussed here....

....well, no one's except MINE.......DC. popcorn::

Last year I was uber ticked off about the "country" theme and I showed it. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and sarcasm is my way of showing it. That's the problem with the internet, no knows your tone or your attitude, so it comes off the way you read it. Sorry if I offended anyone.:guilty:

OTOH, I dealt with some serious nastiness on these threads especially during the Fantasia and Ruben years... I never personalized it because I like what I like and understand if you don't. Nasty remarks about gospel and church, single Moms and genre that I was alone in liking. Last year someone got pissed and called Scotty "her guy".. :confused3 I may like the heck out of someone but they're not my "guy". We can be a fan without being fanatic...ya know what I mean? Whatev... looks like I'm going to have to listen to more vitriol than I give out this year :goodvibes, another Mantasia year. There is really no one on the group I cannot STAND. I even like Skylar because for some strange reason, I love Reba McEntyre! ;) Did I just SAY that??? :scared1:

So TRUCE everybody!

I promise to try NOT to be a Bacon, but I cannot promise NOT to be snarky. It's the native language of Brooklyn.

Check my siggie, I DO value the opinion of the people on this thread!

I think the play nice comment is probably aimed at those of us who showed no appreciation or mercy toward the girl who finished third last year (Was her name Haley something? I have never seen so many girls whose name starts with an H. It is hard to keep them straight.). I'll try and play nice this year. So far all of the thirteen seem like pretty nice people so that will make it easier.

i think there is a point where things become mean-spirited. i think that line might have been crossed last year. i hate to see anyone be vitriolic towards another person. we can criticize someone without being nasty.

I thought I was the only "bacon"...:lmao: I actually liked Haley and really hated to see her go.

I think everyone just needs to remember that everyone has different taste in music/singers and just because someone doesn't like the same person as you doesn't mean they don't like "you".

My area is not in the nasty weather zone..but we have high wind warnings for overnight and all day tomorrow...winds 30-40 mph sustained and gusts up to 70 mph...that is high for us.

I can see power outages going on (or off I guess, lol)

So true!

I think sometimes the sarcasm gets misinterpreted as being mean because you can't hear the tone on line. And sometimes people are just over sensitive and others are mean. :rolleyes1 (see the smiley guy shows I'm being sarcastic and funny!) :snooty:

FINFAN, way back you asked who Phil Phillips looks like, and DH and I think he looks like a younger Sam Worthington. Whaddya think?>

oh definitely a strong resemblance there...I must've forgetten wondering about PP, I know right off the bat he reminded me a LOT of Dave Matthews..Reed was making me nuts, tho. I was going to start a light-hearted game of who thought which contestant was going to be the _____ this season, like, Diva :snooty:,worst dressed:scratchin most improved:cheer2:, most surpising:worship:, most epic fail:scared:....if I do that y'all are gonna know it's in fluff fun, right? Are we to the sunshine & rainbows here too? Or are we allowed to have some Jimmy Iovine moments mixed in?

I am trying to picturesome of these kids ding Whitney..Phillip Philllips for one...he is probably a little out of his element on this. HOwever, Jermaine. his background is gospel, right? Just like Whitney so he may have no worries. I want ot see Hair Down Hollie, but watch Shannon get "Dance w/Somebody". As far s I know they can choose from a wide range of Whitneys songs, right? They need at least 13, so nt all are goint ot be chart toppers. For some, going with an unknown Whitney song will be the best strategy :thumbsup2

I thought the boys are doing Stevie Wonder and the girls Whitney Houston.

I think it sounds like fun. I think most here will know it is not meant to be mean..or is not a personal attack.

We'll have to get used to posting a lot of ;) :):hippie::goodvibes after our posts...or like I do a lot at work on our office communicator since we have no good icons at all <insert major sarcasm here>

I thought the boys are doing Stevie Wonder and the girls Whitney Houston.

Now that's a HUGE list.

Stevie has been recording since he was 12. I had to write a report on him in college (on Songs in the Key of Life), the report was 20 pages and he was only 27!

Whitney has a huge list, too, from pop to ballads to gospel. Both have something to use, even Skylar can sing "I Will Always Love You"... which will be TOO much of a NSS moment.. (no "blank" Sherlock) :rolleyes1
Sure it's hard to DO Whitney but Whitney didn't write her songs so they can adapt them. Stevie has a very diverse list, also, but he's less of a singer as he is a storyteller so I think all the guys can find something to use.

Looking forward to this week!! There is very little I don't know about those two, which is RARE for me, the ol' R&B lady.

You KNOW I will love this! :yay: Jimmy and I were separated at birth!! :rotfl:

am i the only one that thought hollie c. looked like a young jodie foster in her last song?

i'm thinking the hollie, if that is the name of the 18 y/o that had her her up and steven make the comment of wanting to see her with her hair down the next time.
