American Idol: Season 10 PART III

There was an article out lately about the country radio stations saying they wouldn't play anything by Lauren and Scotty. Since I don't listen to country music, I don't understand why not.

Country singers are a dime a dozen and the two finalists are very pedestrian compared to most of them. It is a business. How many 12 year olds (the bulk of Idol voters) actually have money to buy their albums ?

This season has just not been great to me. I enjoyed Casey and James and their creativeness (is that a word?) and while I think Scotty can "sing the phone book", I'm just not a huge country music fan. I was raised on it, being from NJ and all, lol.

I hope the next season is better but I seem to be saying that with each season that passes.

Guess I gave Haley the curse of my vote.

Hee-Haw here we come!!! :lmao:

It is cool to have the local guy still in the running. I like them both (as far as country music goes), so I don't really care who wins. I wish my Jacob or James were still there. :sad1:

Im not upset to see Haley go but the Hee haw theme is pretty funny.they should have the other ten pop out of a corn field telling jokes. Maybe one of the fianlist could duet wit Roy Clark.

Wow, if I owned a radio station and an employee insulted someone that way (comments about looks/mannerisms) they wouldn't have a job there anymore. I can understand not liking a voice, but this is radio..your listeners don't see the person when they are listening to your station. Making nasty comments about someone's look is not really professional.

The country stations won't be able to NOT play their music. It is all basically controlled by the CMA and a couple of management groups that will say play it or else. And they will.

I don't even LIKE country music...not even a little, and I am happy about the finale. Well, as happy as I can be. The best part is that i can just sit back and enjoy the show, having NO vested interest in the final result. Either one could win and it would be just fine.

How neat is it that the two youngest contestants are the finalists? Even if it was engineered that way.

I'll jump in to say that I am pleased with the results. I love Scotty! I didn't care much for Haley, and I'm not a "over-the-hill, Pooh-sized mom hating on Haley because she is talented and beautiful" as somebody earlier stated. Just a nineteen year old girl who got rubbed the wrong way by her personality.

I'm sorry, I just didn't like her much. I don't doubt that she'll get signed somewhere else anyway.

I love Scotty though, and I'm indifferent about Lauren. Scotty has just been one of my favorites since the beginning, since his audition. I am a bit of a country fan, so he just caught my attention.

So, we may very well be looking at a "Country" finale, however Lauren does have to potential to sing more pop-type music.

I'd kind of love to hear Scotty do "Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy", and Lauren should do "Don't Want To Miss a Thing".

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lauren's memorable moment was that ...and I'm pretty sure Aerosmith doesn't think it is country, lol. At least it is a singing competition again.

Their mommy's and daddy's do. ;)

Haven't read these links yet but it often happens. When Patty Loveless was starting in country music my friend played guitar for her. We'd call the radio station and request her songs and they would NOT play her music. Said they wouldn't. But finally they did... Lots of politics involved in the music and radio business. Should be an interesting read. Now my friend plays for Reba. :)

How do you think Bieber got famous? Granted, I know he's not country... but still.

I'm happy that Haley was eliminated. She was annoying and had a attitude problem. I'm not surprised that the country artists are in the finale. Country music is more popular then a lot of people seem to realize. Who do you think will win? I think Scotty will win but I'm voting for Lauren. She's been my favorite since the Nashville auditions. http://whosright.com/poll/american-idol-who-do-you-think-will-win-scotty-mccreery-or-lauren-alaina

Simon Fuller is the winner.

I never made a secret of the fact that I did not like Haley. Not so much her voice as her personality, which I think is very important. Didn't anyone notice she was wearing a crown?? :lmao::lmao: So glad Lauren got to knock it off her, if only figuratively!

Why would the CMA or management groups insist that they be played? Radio stations haven't automatically played songs from other idols. We heard very, very little from last year's contestants.

If they are with the "right" management group/CMA they would. These are the ones that will say to you "if you don't play XYZ when ABC comes into town you won't be able to be giving away the free tickets, we'll take them someplace else". And ABC is the big name that EVERYONE wants tickets too but can't get so if you are running contests for free tickets your listeners increase a lot....ratings, ratings, ratings.

$$$$$$$$$$ ;)

How did Danny Gokey do with his country music career? Did radio embrace him? He was hugely popular on idol. From what I understand, country music radio seems to be getting tired of idol contestants thinking they can make it big.
