American Idol 7 Finale Red Carpet Thread.. David Cook Wins!

On another note....as I have mentioned before my son has had the same girlfriend for 3 years now...since the summer before 3rd grade...

anyway...My son brings a note home from his art teacher...It was a generic letter sent home to most of the calls...talking about how this class has been rude and disruptive and havent been getting there projects done on time....Well my sone was not happy he got one sent home...He told me his projects were done all on time and that he ws not being disruptive...the teacher was not very specific so I am not too sure how to handle it...the note has to be signed and returned by Thurs or he will be sent to the Principle...What I am getting at is we get a call from his girlfriends mom and she told us that she come home crying cause Dustin got in trouble for no reason and that he was not being disruptive or anything and that she was very mad at that teacher...It kinda goes with my sons story too...Now I know its his girlfriend and she is gonna stick by him...blah blah blah....but I dont know what to do...I dont wanna punish him if its the truth and I have ne reason to think they lied but how do I not believe a teacher...My wife says sign and send it back in there is only 6 days of school left....I dont wanna sign till I get more explanation on what happened as this will be his art teacher for the next 3 years...So I dont know...

I asked my son if the teacher has ever asked him to be quiet in class before and he say yes a couple times...I told him that is most likely why he got a letter...He says they are the biggest art class...So I explained to him that she is only one teacher and if the class was overly loud anyone she has asked to be quiet in the past would most likely get a letter because she cant see everyone at once....I told thats why behavior is so important teachers remember how behaved a student was no matter what there grades are...

The letter was so generic and his girlfriend said only 5 girls didnt get a letter sent home and they were the 5 that help her out all the time and she was one of them...I just cant punish him without more facts...Is that wrong on my part or should i support that teacher no questions asked...

Any advice??

I would chalk it up to the teacher making an honest mistake. If it was a specific letter about things your son had done, I'd be upset and find out the truth. But since it seems the whole class was acting up and it was hard for the teacher to sort out who was the real offenders and who was just speaking out of turn, I'd sign it but not punish DS. Just give him the reminder to not talk when he's not supposed to and drop it.

Try this trick and you'll be rockin' those rock pants again.....
Take a rubberband, loop one end around the button, stick the other end thru the button hole, and loop it around the button too. Now they will fit without actually buttoning them.
(This worked GREAT when I was pregnant. )

I used that trick many times myself.

I'm glad they're pulling back on the KC thing... it's causing a bit of animosity among the fans... MeowFest here is COUGAR KILL on the other Idol boards!!!

Has anybody ever noticed that Michael Johns' name is always in italics up top? It was on the last survey we had and now it's on this one. I think we found another mystery fan. Who is it you ask? It wouldn't be a mystery if we all knew.

I'm a little slow. I guess it's because that's who I voted for. I feel bad for the person who has Amanda in italics.

if it makes you feel better, it took me a few minutes to realize why the italics, too.

You know I was wondering why this thread had dried up. I'm not about declare allegiance and jump on the Cook wagon. He's the best idol since Kelly Clarkson but I just can't obsess over anybody like you ladies do.

I think she is pretty. Mike, is smarmy but he plays it up. (like a Regis wannabe)

She said something about him dating KC but that he didn't need to talk about his personal life if he didn't want to. He said "what personal life"? She then asked if he wanted to dispel any other rumors out there and he said he has high bp and obviously didn't die at the hospital and that the "article" about him being friends with Daughtry (the inaccurate one that threw him under the bus for Analog Heart) wasn't true. He said he met CD for 5 minutes during grammy week.

I am pretty sure that all of his appearances are somewhat scripted so why two days ago they had to do the OTT thing about Kimberly Caldwell and now are toning it down, I have no idea. One theory is that they are trying to broaden his twenty something "guy cred" out there by having them say, yeah, I can see the KC thing.

I still like his Leno appearance the best. To me, it is the most genuine interview. He was still amazed by his win, was running on very little sleep and was funny.

I've peeked at some of the links there. Yowsa! I think someone really jumped the gun on that. (was it him, the stalker media, her, AI) Did they think people would be aw, how cute she was on Idol too? I think they needed to let him have his week of press and let his win be the story and not everyone's thoughts on his dating life. Maybe they were trying to throw some cold water on some of the out of control fans? Inquiring minds want to know.

I wonder if it might be a way to deflect attention from his sick brother. He knew he'd be doing a LOT of press suddenly and this might have been a way over shadow that. I think Larry King might have mentioned it but I don't think a word was said on Leno, Ellen, or Regis & Kelly. Hmmm.

David was very closed mouthed about his brother during the competition, so I doubt he would be willing to start talking now.
Personally I appreciated that he didn't play for the sympathy vote. (not that he needed it) I think most people don't even know that his brother is sick.

My point was that whether HE liked it or not -- the press knew about the situation with his brother and were writing about it. While in the AI "bubble" DC was not being asked about it constantly -- at least not on camera. But now that he's won and out and doing daily talk shows -- it was more likely to come up as much as HE didn't want it to. But now with this Kim mess THAT is all everyone is talking about and his brother's situation has been almost forgotten. And all I'm saying is that if we are going to think of ulterior motives for the odd timing of all this -- that might be another angle.

You feel like you need to work? what does hubby think you should do? I am sure he supports any decision you make too...

We had to cancel or disney plans for Sept cause of my wifes dad so we are planning a quick 3 day trip to Gatlinburg now and I think gonna retry Disney in Dec....Hopefully her dad will be at a point we can leave for a longer period of time by then....fingers crossed

Also we now have the new HArd Rock Park in Myrtle Beach we can go to and Paramounts Carowinds is only 3 hours away...they are neither Disney but the kids will enjoy them...

Well, we could definitely use the extra cash. So right now I'm thinking maybe I'll just look for a part time job at a bookstore or craft store or something. I have a college degree that I'll probably never use. Oh well. I just want to be happy.

So my son made all-star for the 3rd year in a row, only 3 years he was eligible...he is 11 playing in the 11-12 age group and was the 3rd player selected...YEAH....last year he was 4th and the year before that 2nd...He was unanimous 1st ballot every year except last year where he was 1st pick on 2nd ballot but I think the coach on one of the out of town teams wasnt quite sure of his name...just my opinion...

I am proud of him...he is the best hitter on the team and the starting catcher, as a lefty and the best 1st baseman in the league....not sure where he will play in All-stars, 1st last year and catcher the 2 years before that...also he has been the most consistent pitcher lately, not the strongest arm but great delivery and movement to his pitch...He loes to play and thats what I like to see....

anyway wanted to brag for a moment...

Looks like he will be playing 12U AAU this fall....Ahh the popular athlete....well it helps....

Who the heck are Mike and Juliet? I didn't have the DVR set for that one. Never even heard of them.

Does it slope down or up from the house? Our yard backs up to a hill and nearly half of our already small back yard was the start of the hill. So we dug it out and put in a retaining wall.

It slopes down and away from the house. We could put in a deck and then lower the rest of the yard. But I like the idea of a patio. so I googled "raised patio" and all kinds of nice ideas popped up. So we may have to put in a raised patio with a small-ish retaining wall. And the lower the other half of the yard.

I saw this and I like the idea of having plants around the edge. (Obviously we wouldn't do EXACTLY that patio or anything...but that's what I mean by "elevated patio.")

I noticed that too. I assumed she was asking about Adam, and when he answered about Andrew I figured she just took the hint and dropped it.
