Haha..DC is gonna 'plode! That's for sure.
Soooooo, folks. What did we learn last night? It takes a village to crown the American Idol. Our votes were cast and our voices heard. What a fantastic night full of neat surprises! Here's my take (yes, Itook notes...DH thinks I'm more insane now than ever).
I really didn't love all the movie pimping (Zohan, and the Love Guru) but I LOVED the shaving cream bit between DC and Mike Meyers. Based on all his Ford commercials, this skit and the Guitar Hero bit, DC could EASILY have a mega future on the screen too.
In case anyone has wondered, DC is now on my "list"...you know...THAT list.
On to the music!
Hero: Oh my freaking Lord! I ADORE this song, and DC rocked it out and owned every inch of that song. I liked the duet too but Archie was really kind of like an afterthought in this number. Totally outshined by the Cook.
Waiting For You: Syesha teams with Seal. Who knew that Seal had such soul??? He was rockin'...and so was Syesha, but not in a good way. GIRL, where is your bra?????
Hallelujah: JAson's best song ever revisited. It was sweet and sincere, though he got ahead of the music a few times. Well done.
The Donna Summer medley: Brooke FINALLY looks relaxed and like she's having fun. Carly was enjoying herself immensely, even KLC sounded good. Donna Summer looked way better than the last time I met her 8 years ago and she always kills it musically! What was up with Ryan's crazy spaz dance???
Note: During the whole night, Amanda Overmeyer looked, miserable, stiff and uncomfortable. WHY did the y bother to invite her? She really ruined the feel of the group performances. I noticed they tried to keep her out of most of the shots.
The Letter: Carly and MJ were FIERCE hot! Carly got a little screamy at time, but what a couple!
Bryan Adams Medley: MJ was smoking, but the other guys not-s-much. I loved that David Hernandez was all smiles and having fun. DC totally knocked my socks off.
Sharp Dressed Man: The highlight of my night!!!!!! The only thing missing was the guitar spin, but when DC did the "knee dance" I literally cheared for him in my living room. What a smoking, molten lava hot performance by all the guys.
The Graham Nash/Brooke duet: Sweet but forgettable.
Those Guitar hero spots: I was fast forwarding through the commercials when I caught a glimpse and said "i think that was DC.." We went back and sure enough...holy schmoly...Tom Cruise has just been replaced in an iconic image forever. Wow! THAT was fanastic, humorous..everything. What can't this guy do?
The Jonas Bros: Sorry, I just don't get the appeal.
Apologize: Totally Archie's highlight. A fantastic duet (though I was a little bummed he couldn't do the high notes). THIS is the music he'll be able to put out.
Gladys Knight and the "Pips": What a pip indeed! I could barely see the tv through the tears of laughter. Those three guys are genius. Who else is thrilled to see RDJ career taking off again like it is? I will be firston line for Tropic Thunder!
The George Michael Medley: A bit cheezy for me. Amanda really needed a stern talking to by the producers.
Now on to why I am REALLY happy. Since our man DC is the winner, and I have tix to the concert in August here in Charlotte, I am THRILLED that DC will be prominently featured at the show. I was worried that I have to stomach 30 minutes of Archie going solo. Now I can enjoy the show!
That's all for now folks!
