I'm thinking about doing the tryout when it comes through Houston in a few weeks but I'm scared.Should I take the chance even through I'm a vet of karaoke bars

I personally never watched the AI show, nor followed along with its progress. That being said, if you feel you have the talent why not go for it? The worst that can happen is you don't make it, but you still go away with the memories of having tried and the knowledge that you were not afraid!

Good luck! A boy from our hometown made it through the first few rounds in Detroit, and will be flown to LA--they fly about 70 to LA, then narrow it down to 30 for TV. Go Michael Craig!

DEFINITELY! I was gonna try out but I am not yet comfortable singing in front of people...esp someone like Simon.

Get a few unbiased opinions (I can't believe some of those people were never told that they can't sing!), and if no one calls you tone deaf, go for it! But pick another song. That one isn't very impressive (even for a MB20 fanatic).
