American Girl star code? Confused...

DD wanted to play online now that she has an AG.....but it says you need a code that came with the doll...I ordered DD Felicity. Does it come with a code to get online? I didn't see anything.

Which dolls come with the codes? You'd think spending $$$ would give you a stinkin' code.

Any info appreciated. Maybe it's certain dolls.

It only comes with My American Girl dolls (the ones that can look like your child).

Yup, it's only the Just Like me AG dolls.

THANKS. she has one of those of course before summer 2010. And I saw you could buy them for $10 on AG but only through Summer. They're on ebay for $37 now. Oy.

I believe you can call AG and order a code for $10, at least that is what we did.

I was very mad that I spent all that $$ on the just like me doll, only to have this whole new website start a few months after we got the doll. (all new dolls come with it)

You can also get the AG books that have a code, but not sure how long the access is good for. Both my DD love the website though.

I find it odd that they don't give codes with the historical dolls. I mean, that is what the company started out with (I know, I know - that was Pleasant Co and this is Mattel *sigh*) and, for some of us, that is what American Girl still means. I, personally, think DD would love to play games using her historical dolls and we don't really spend $100 on "just any doll" so she doesn't want a doll that doesn't have a "story" just so she can play an online game.

I will have to check about buying a code by itself, that would be AWESOME.

To play American Girl, you need to have bought a My American Girl doll? otherwise you have to buy a code? Don't they make enough money from these dolls? Thankfully my girls do no realize that American Girl offers a website to play on - between Club Penguin, Webkinz, StarDoll and all the others that you have to pay to play, I could go broke - not fair!

They didn't email you about it? I got *tons* of emails telling me I could buy a code for $10 (we also bought a doll a few months before the website was launched).

I think that was one of the main reasons my dd wanted a Just Like Me doll this year, which she did get. You can play on the website but your content is limited unless you have the code. We also have Julie, which my dd got a few years ago.

I didn't realize this access was limited based on the doll either (we have Julie). I thought I'd just accidently tossed out the code and had sent an email to support regarding this. I also don't think I fully realized what InnerStarU was. (I was thinking it was like Club Penguin or something, which it does not appear to be.) Anyway, here was their reply:
