American girl shipping ??

I am hoping to get an American girl doll for DD. The shipping to the UK us approx $70 plus import tax and duty I was thinking of having it shipped to the property we are renting in Orlando in 3 weeks. Can anyone advise me what shipping method American girl use? Also if I am not in a the time of delivery what happens to the item, does it go to the nearest post office for me to collect? TIA

The things I have ordered from AG have been delivered by UPS. (I believe some areas may be delivered by FedEx ground though.) Either company leaves packages at my house if no one home, but we're also in a more rural area and have a porch. I'd expect that may be different if it's in a city.

Either service will leave a note if they do not deliver, like if it needs a signature. They will retry the next day, or you can call and ask them to hold it at their office for you to pick up.

You might want to check with the people you are hiring the villa from, as sometimes rental properties don't have post boxes. We've had to have things sent to the local management company and picked our package up from there instead of them being delivered directly to the villa.

Thanks Janet, that's a great idea, I will pop they an email now! A guy I work with put me onto the AG website, it's fantastic! My DD is not even 2 yet but loves her dolls, I just know her and I will have such fun with the AG twins!

Just so you know, I ordered from them on a Sunday afternoon and my package arrived on Tuesday afternoon...shipping was VERY quick...but I do live in Chicago area, so not sure if having an AG store close by had something to do with that.

I live in Florida and my AG packages always arrive within a week of ordering. Mine come via UPS.

Brill, sounds as though it's really quick! I will wait and order the week after Christmas and hopefully it will be there for our arrival on 5th Jan. There are so many lovely things on the website to choose from, I can't decide whether to just get the doll then pick the outfits for baby bitty or just get the starter set decisions decisions!

lol the only problem is once you start on American Girl dolls you just can't stop!! And when your daughter is a bit older you can take her to the store, they are dolly heaven!! You can even eat a meal at the store and they provide little chairs for your doll.

I have read about the lunch, it's going to cost me a total fortune in airfares LOL I am already planning a trip to NYC
