I just love these dolls. I just ordered two dolls for my girls for Christmas. I got my youngest DD the Felicity doll as there will be a new Felicity movie coming out in November :cheer2: My oldest got the Marisol doll collection.

Does anyone else's daughters love these dolls?

To me, they are worth every penny. I bought 4 outfits and Felicity's baby sister doll and cradle.

Should be a fun Christmas!

My girls would like them and I am very on the fence.

Thankfully--they aren't 8 yet, so I use that as a buffer for most of the catalogue. i'm thinking of the babies and the twins..but it is pricey.

My DD5 (6 next week) loves them as well. She got Samantha for her birthday last year and Nellie for Christmas. Then she saved her own money to get Kaya. I wanted Felicity when we went to Williamsburg on vacation this summer, but I wasn't as good at saving my money as she is. LOL!

We have Kit and Lindsey and a punch of clothes and accessories (oh and Co-co nut too)
they get dressed and colect dust (but dd is 11 now - she played with them a lot more when she first got them!)
For my other dd i already got her bitty baby for her first x-mas (she was 6 months old!) and I can't wait to get her more - and when we move I am going to tell big sis to pass the others down to her...

I still love these dolls and I'll be 28 in December. I still have all of mine - when I was little there were only Felicity, Kirstin, Samantha, and Molly. Our DD is expected in January and I'm already counting the Christmases/birthdays until I can get her one! I hope she likes Addy because I love Addy's clothes. :goodvibes

My DD got Samantha when she was 8yo. Samantha looks a lot like DD with her long brown hair and dark eyes. She played with that doll exclusively for about 3 years, and of course, read all the books. her favorites were the activity books--Samantha is a "rich girl", which is very different from my DDs lifestyle. She liked pretending she was just like Samantha, I think. :goodvibes

My daughter got them when she was younger (she is now 17 and a Senior in High School).
She has:
Molly, Samantha, and a "Girl Of Today".

These dolls brought her such joy and fun over the years.
Now, when our little nieces come over (ages 8, 5, and 2 and-a-half), they always want to play with her dolls with her. :)
It is a great way for them to bond.

My girls are just starting to get into them so they are getting them for Christmas. DD (8) is getting Samantha and DD (6) is getting the bitty baby twins. They are also getting the crib, Samantha's bed, a changing table, the hair care set, some clothes and the American GIrl Bath and BOdy works stuff. BOy this stuff really adds up. ALso (they don't know it) but for an Easter present we're taking them to the AG store in NY and doing the cafe,s how thing.

THank goodness the last one is a boy!

My daughter has Kirsten and some random blonde with pigtails. I love Kirsten myself, she looks so old fashioned. My daughter is 8....she hates these dolls. My mother n law got them for her, along with a ton of clothes and Coconut. I think it's the eyes...she just doesn't enjoy them. She likes animals, as in stuffed animals. I would have loved one of the American Girl dolls as a kid.

My daughter has one - a "girl of today"; she would love a Samantha though. I didn't buy it for her though - my mother in law did. And I have made clothes, rather than buy the expensive outfits.

I will admit that dd loves her doll, and plays with it a lot, but I can't stomach those prices.

I don't know why, this struck me as funny. "Who's your son dating these days? "
"Oh I don't know, some random blonde with pigtails!"

:rotfl2:

Oh yes, back to the question.....we have A Girl of Today and Samantha residing at our house. And I believe Santa may be bringing another......

Let's see...in our house my oldest DD has a "girl of today", Samantha, and Marisol. The first two were Christmas gifts from her grandma and Marisol she saved her own money for. My youngest has a Bitty Baby and now wants Felicity for Christmas. My oldest asked for Elizabeth...so of course grandma ordered them this weekend:) My girls are 9 and 4...and I love the fact that my 9 year old still asks for a doll for Christmas.

For those of you ordering, if you search on the Budget Board, there are a couple codes...one for free shipping and the other for 10% off...you can only use one at a time, but with as expensive as the girls are every little bit helps.

Thanks everyone! Glad to see there are a bunch of American Girl lovers out there

My now DD9 was a big fan - 3 dolls, multiple books, trips to AG Place in Chicago, but she has largely outgrown it and is now into "action chicks" (my phrase - Mulan and Princess Leia

I have Felicity myself and my DDs still at home have Nellie and Kit. My DDs not at home had Kirsten, Samantha, and 2 others (can't remember which). I, personally, am not excited about them. I only have Felicity b/c my mom gave her to me b/c I love Williamsburg.

we are innundated with clothes, accessories and shoes and the furniture items have been poorly made (caused me an ER visit with a hole in my foot and a tetanus shot :( ) DDs rarely play with them at all, but my mom feels compelled to keep buying them outfit after outfit. In fact, DH and I were just talking about putting together a grab bag of AG clothes and selling it on eBay! Now, if I could only find whole *outfits*... :confused3

No, my girls aren't into American Girl at all.

:rotfl: Just kidding! The picture of my girls in my siggie was featured in an article about The American Girl Place.

My DD6 has the bitty baby, twins and Samantha. She has had the bitty baby since she was one and she loves it more than anything. She has lots of clothes and the crib, highchair, and changing table. Her room is like a nursery.Every Christmas and birthday she asks for more. This Christmas she has picked out clothes that her little sister should ask for so that they can share.I guess Santa will be bringing her her own doll.So far though they have been sharing the three fairly well. She doesn't play with Samantha very much.

I LOVE the American Girl dolls. I'd love to have Kirsten for myself -- why, I don't know. She's just so pretty. Love the "Little House on the Prairie" time-period.

My mom bought older DD (9 at the time) Josefina (that's the one DD asked for), and mom bought younger DD (8 at the time) Samantha. I bought DD10 Nellie for Christmas last year, and Bitty Baby for her 6th bday. We have several of the outfits, usually purchased when they are discounted on the web site. Oh, and DD10 bought Coconut for herself after her bday.

DD10 is asking for a couple of outfits for Samantha. She'll probably get that for Christmas.

DD13 didn't play with Josefina much. DD10 plays with all of them, though.

Oh yes, my DD has loved these forever! She got her first Bitty baby when she was about 2 and she now has all but one of the dolls, Kaya, which she'll more than likely get for Christmas. She is now 10 and in 5th grade and she still will play with her dolls occasionally. I think they are worth the money too. We have to hit American Girl store every time we're in downtown Chicago. In fact, she just received her Halloween costume in the mail today. We ordered the flapper costume from American Girl. It is really cute and she's happy as can be!

Well I have tried to get dd7 into the american girls but she just loves her bitty baby too much. That's ok though as we are well stocked for bitty and if we got an AG we'd have to purchase more!! Santa will be bringing her the bitty twins for Christmas. These dolls are so well made that she can hand them down to someone else later in life.
