My 7 year old has expressed interest in both. I already got Belle and some wardrobe. Now I am looking at Amer Girl site too. I wonder if she is too old for the Belle doll. I realize AG will be more money, but it is in our budget for xmas

AG dolls hold their value. If she out grows it one day and doesn't want to keep it, you can resale it.

American Girl. They stand up to hard playing, and if she would happen to put make-up on it with a permanent marker, you can send it to the hospital and have it fixed.

American girl! We don't have any experience with princess and me, but dd (7) got an AG doll for her bday and I have been impressed with the quality.

Yep, what they said! You can dress up an American girl in a princess costume, but you can't dress a princess as an American girl... Belle will always look like Belle..

I bought DD4 Princess and Me Ariel because THATS all she wants for Christmas lol... DD7 wants an American Girl and we are going there for Spring Break

American Girl! Unless she has said she wants a Princess doll, I would go with the AG.
