American Girl Doll of the year 2010- it's like they KNOW...

We were at the launch yesterday morning and yes, we came home with Lanie. They raffled off the full package to one of the first 100 girls there. Unfortunately we didn't get one.
We did get a nice goodie bag with a book, a poster, one of the magazines and a chocolate chip cookie!! (good cookie :rolleyes1). It was a lot of fun! We would go again next year. NYC is great at 8 a.m. the morning after. No one was out! :rotfl:

I was in the NYC area and almost went yesterday with my daughter.

I resisted.

However, I do think we'll go for her Feb. birthday.

If I had gone yesterday, I am sure that I would be the owner of a Lanie doll today.:rotfl:

Maybe to replace Kirsten, who was retired this past year. She was always my favorite and my first AG when I was seven.

I'm anxious to see what they come out with.

Like I said, the artist is sworn to secrecy.

DS's Girlfriend is her good friend...and is the Schoolteacher "out west" in the book. The artist has photographed her in various poses and expressions to later use to paint.

Unfortunately, my son's character is an outlaw/bad man in the book:sad1:;)

LONG OVERDUE UPDATE
05/13/09 08:25 PM
Though my updates have been few and far between lately, don't be alarmed. These lack of updates are not due to a lack of work. In fact, they are due to a surplus. For the past seven months, I have been working on a long term freelance job with the one and only American Girl Company. I am in the process of Illustrating not only my first book, but my first series of books! The details are very hush hush at the moment. But I can tell you, its going to be BIG. I still have another six months of painting before the project is finished, and the books are set to be released in June 2011. I'll give you more info when I can. In the meantime, I'm sorry for the lack of new paintings being posted on here. Keep an eye out, though, new stuff is on the way.

Very very cool!!! Thanks for the update. If it's coming out in June 2011 then it's probably a new historic doll. Oooohhh, I can't wait to share with my DD.:banana::banana:

Whoa whoa whoa. Hold the phone. Kirsten is RETIRED?

Boy, does that make me feel old. Where's the creaking-bones smiley?

So now my question is....will there be a new historical girl to replace Kirsten? How long ago did Samantha retire b/c I gathered that Rebecca was like a "replacement" for Samantha.

And how often are they going to retire the historical girls? I'm a tad nervous Molly will be next lol...she has always been my favorite and DD is not sure if she wants Molly or Ruthie for her birthday...now she saw Lanie and is so torn!!!
...I am kind of hoping that she decides on Molly though myself :rolleyes1

I'm thinking this "western" (maybe Gold Rush?) girl will replace Kirsten in terms of location/time period.

I was really upset that they retired my first two dolls. :( I'm sure the next will be Molly, and that she'll be replaced by a 50's doll.

That's a lovely idea.:goodvibes I'm 21 as well and adored everything American Girl, but Samantha and Molly were my favorites. I've saved everything I have too!

I had so many of the things and dolls and kept playing with them until I was 12.

I'm 21 now and my mom got me Rebecca for Christmas. I asked for her...she is just so pretty I really wanted her. I didn't even have much of a Chrismtas list this year, just Rebecca and a Snuggie.

I don't think I'll ever grow out of dolls or stuffed animals. I just like to collect.

Okay, I seriously thought I was the only 21 year old who still bought american girl doll stuff. This makes me feel better :) Molly was always my favorite (I got her when I was 6). I really cannot wait to pass this down to my children when I have them :)
