American Express travel cheque card

Hi

I would be interested to know of any one that has used this card in Florida and where this card was excepted eg Restaurants, shops in an out of Disney.

It's accepted anywhere that accepts American Express ie almost anywhere.

We used it without any problem in November, and found it really convenient. We will definitely use it again this November.

The downsides are - you need to keep at least a rough record of what you have spent, otherwise you need to call Amex or go online to keep checking your remaining balance; you will need to take cash as well for tolls, street vendors in the parks; you are charged something like $2.50 each time you withdraw cash from an ATM (so we just didn't).

Another downside is that the exchange rate you get when you buy it is not great - but - if you take advantage of one of the free $ offers that are around in different travel agents from time to time, you can get an equivalent rate of around $1.86.

If you run a seach on this forum, there have been loads of threads about this in the past couple of months - too many to list - but they have had good responses, so try to have a read through those

Sorry Marv - I just read your thread about using the card on DCL - I hadn't realised you already had the card.

Just to clarify, we used it all over Disney - just not with the street vendors etc when buying a drink for a couple of $. I don't know whether they would accept cards or not?

I was told that Universal Studios dont accept it.

I am using it from tomorrow! I got mine from First Choice with $100 dollars free and that offer is still on until the end of February.

I realise that some places dont except like the street vendors so i will proberly have to use the ATM but i have some travel cheques wich can be used on the cruise. Ime just being frugel and dont want to use a credit card while on board just to keep a lid on spending.
I hope that the Travel cheque card will be ok as i will now have to use this in restaurants for breakfast and dinner.
I hope they take it or we may go hungry or actually come back from florida with no extra weight on us

We used our card at Universal in December with no problems, mind you we used it to buy food at the Cheesecake factory only so don't know if anywhere else accepts it.
We used it in WalMart and Super Target without any problems. Super Target even has the balance on the till reciept so that can help to keep track of your balance.
We have reloaded our card and will be using it again in April.
