American Express- Free companion ticket

I saw an article in the travel section of our local paper. American Express is offering a free companion airline ticket if you purchase a $300 Travel Check Card. Of course there are a lot of restrictions (ie the dates of travel and the cost of the 1st ticket purchased.) More info on the American Express website. We were thinking of a trip to Seattle and an Alaskan Cruise so it might work out to be a good deal for us.
