I know NOTHING about this store. I looked at some of their clothes online and I'm wondering about the quality. I'm also wondering if this is a bit of a "teen" store? Do the sizes run larger or smaller, etc. Just tell me whatever you know about the store. Thanks! :)

AE as it's more commonly referred to is more of a teen/sometimes early 20's store. I find their sizes to run small and their clothing quality to be similar to Abercrombies. It is very similar to Abercrombie and Fitch, just a little more moderately priced. Hope this helps!

I love the jeans at American Eagle. They are the only ones i have found that fit me. Saying this...their shirts run incredibly small. their jeans and other pants not so much. It is definitely a teen/early 20's store.

Thanks for the quick replies! Do all of their clothes run small or just shirts? I'm wondering about the jeans, since I have trouble finding jeans that fit. Do their jeans run small as well? Thanks again! I knew someone here would know. :thumbsup2

I didn't find that their jeans run small but that could just be me. I don't like the new line of jeans they have out and am hoping they dont last very long because they are super low rise and boot cut.
They have always seemed to fit me in terms of size like any other store.

AE is one my DD12's favorite clothing stores.
She really likes the place.
I'm not sure how much longer she'll be able to wear their stuff though....she's a tall girl.

She's 5'6", about 115 pounds & is already wearing the size XL in their winter coats. She also wears their size L & XL shirts.

We have a ton of their shirts, but no jeans...DD prefers Aeropostale jeans.

Usually I'm not into these types of stores, but its the only place I could find pants that fit.

As for pant sizes, usually I'm an 11. Their 9s fit and were even a bit big.

It is big with the tween crowd here as well. My ds(12) prefers to wear AE shirts, jackets and sweatshirts. Pants he couldn't care less - as long as they are cargo... So I buy AE for the tops and I too will say he is 12 and wearing a large*he would fit into a medium but he prefers it slightly big and after I wash it shrinkage....

My #2 DD does a fair amount of shoping at AE
It's an OK brand for the high school set to be seen in. ;)

DD wears AE jeans, while the same is not true of most A&F jeans, which seem to be cut really tiny.

My oldest DD, who prefers a more baggy look, has found things that work for her at AE as well.

I'd say they both tend to buy about the size you would expect at AE, maybe a size up depending on the style. Otoh, we had to take back A&F stuff I bought for Christmas to get bigger sizes.
My 8 yr. old DD actually fits perfectly in one of the small shirts I got A&F (and no, it was not from the kids store)
Some of that stuff is miniscule.

Like the others have said, quality seems to be typical of a lot of stuff geared to the teen market. Not horrendous, but I wouldn't expect it to last for years either.

Yep- I know AE well, I dropped a small fourtune there over Christmas for my daughter. She loves that store and most of her clothes are from there or Hollister. I MUCH, MUCH more like the quility of AE or Hollister, if that helps.

DS13 loves this store. DD19 does not. I put it in the same category as Hollister,PacSun and A&F.

My niece works at an AE store in Ohio. She wears the clothes ALL the time and they look really cute on her. She's 20 and in nice shape-not skinny, average sized.

DD14 likes their clothes. AE and Charlotte Russe are the only non-childrens' stores where she can get jeans that fit. (She is thin and about 5'1".) (Even the Gap size 0 are too big.) She likes their tops but CAUTION: some are hand wash and a whole lot are "dry flat." What a pain!

We also found current season AE jeans at TJMaxx for $19.99.

American Eagle...my DD-17 loves their jeans as well as their clothing... she likes AE better than A&F(way too costly)

FYI... as for those of you who have kids that love Hollister... tell them that there REALLY IS A HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA... we lived there prior to moving to SW IL last year.... it is a semi rural town 30 minutes from the Pacific Ocean... the boys are cute too... LOL... oh and my Hollister CA... has nothing to do with HOLLISTER the store.

I like their clothes and I'm not a teen. I just bought 2 T-shirts and some jeans from them. I think the jeans do run a little big but I still like them a lot.

I like their clothing, and it is a major brand around her in Pittsburgh (as it is based here.) Their prices run in between the lower Aeropostale and Hollister Co. and the higher Abercrombie and Fitch and Gap. I find their men's line runs a bit small in shirts, but dead on in jeans.

DD17 and DS 21 get most of their clothing from AE. Dropped small fortunes before Xmas, and again at sales after. I must say I'm very happy with the quality of the clothing. Holds up very well to repeated washings, even when stuffed into washer as college kids do. We shop around sales, last Tuesday of month sales, and with coupons. Looking forward to a 40% coupon arriving in time for spring shopping.
