American Airlines

Not flown with them but booked through them for next year on a code share. Can't comment on the actual flights but had to have numerous dealings with the call center because of an issue trying to get the card company to process my transaction and then for further enquiries.

Is it actual AA flights or a code share you are looking at?

:lmao: Kath you're so funny!

It is true. It was just the way you said it :rotfl:

Honestly, I wanted to type they are just as pants as every other airline but thought that was a little harsh.

Yes, they will feed you. Yes, there will be TVs, but bring a good book regardless. Yes, you can choose your seat. They're nothing special - but then what airline is?

Honestly, just fly with whoever is cheapest and goes from where you want to depart to where you want to arrive. If two airlines are the same price, pick based on departure or arrival times. You won't notice the difference between airlines, not in economy anyway...

:) it's british airways code share, flying with AA

That's what I've booked. So basically it boils down to whether you've done that route if you want to compare. We did it last year with one stop (we are in Scotland so had to connect anyway but it was cheaper than an indirect indirect if that makes sense).

Are you flying from LGW?

ETA: Sorry I may be confused here - are you booking with BA flying on AA, or booking with AA and flying on a BA plane?

Haven't flown AA to Orlando but have used them many times transatlantic. The reality is as the PP said... they are no better or worse than any other airline.

They feed you the usual airline guff, although I have certainly had worse than the food we have had on AA with some airlines. It's nothing special but nothing terrible either. There is very little to choose between scheduled airlines in my experience.

Not sure that all the AA planes have seatback tvs. Last time we flew with them it was overhead tvs only.

I believe that some routes do and some routes don't. I am not sure which are which though.

I assumed at first when the OP said code share that she is flying with AA on a BA carrier which means the BA aircraft information would apply; however if she is flying on an AA aircraft and booked a codeshare through BA or Iberia then she would be looking at information on the AA planes. When she comes back and clarifies someone here will be able to help her :)

Yes you are right, and for the life of me I can't remember which route we were on last time we flew with them! Must check past trippies.

some routes do have personnal TV, while many routes only have shared TV (a few screens hanging from the ceiling)

some routes are also flown on very old and uncomfortable aircrafts, such as B757s which are not meant to fly a transatlancic, or B767 which are just barely acceptable for a long haul.

Flights operated on a 757 or a 767 do not have personnal TV

only flights operated on the B777s have personnal TV (we're talking Economy here)

AA6206 (LGW-MCO direct) taking off at 11:20 and operated by BA is flown on a 777 (personnal TV)

AA57 (LHR-MIA-MCO indirect) taking off at 9:45 is flown on a 777 (personal TV)

actually, I've not been able to find a flight out of London with a shared TV plane.

From London, I would take an AA plane, but I would avoid this company like the plague if I had to go through Madrid. Flights are often codeshared or operated by Iberia, which must be the worst european airline ever.

We flew with them from LHR on the 9.45 to Miami.

We sat near the back and selected the 4 seats in row 41 - this is just where it goes from 2-5-2 to 2-4-2 formation. We had trays & TV in our arm rest and the BIG bonus was we had 5 seats in front to put stuff under and there was a LOT more legroom (about 3-4 inches) plus the arm rests were much wider. By far the most comfortable economy space we have had by a long way.

At the end of the day though - we fly the cheapest option! be that BA, AA, KLM, Virgin (as if they'd be the cheapest:rotfl:).

DS and DDIL flew AA via miami as it was the cheapest option...
i don't think they thought it was great...but it was the cheapest and that was all that mattered..

I imagine that you would just share the flight code but travel on an AA plane. My delta flight from heathrow a few weeks back had the delta code, klm, air france and virgin!!
