Are there TV screens on American Airlines? Flying philly to Orlando. Thanks!

No, you use your phone or tablet and connect to their programming on-board. Make sure you download the AA app to your device before you board.

For most domestic flights, the in-flight entertainment options can be accessed directly on your phone/mobile device or ipad/tablet.. Once you are in-flight, you simply connect to the in-flight wifi network, typically called "AA In-Flight" etc.. and a splash page will generate will all of the free entertainment options.. I have found the movie selection be generous with lot of great options, there are also a handful of TV series, music channels, etc.. See this website for details: https://entertainment.aa.com/en/

Had the screen on the back of the seat in front of me on a flight from PHL to Orlando, but did not have that on the return flight. Just used my phone

It depends on the type of plane. American is the world's biggest airline, so they have a lot of plane types. Some have screens, some require you to use your own device. You can check your reservation to see what type of plane you're assigned to, and do a bit of research from there, if you're that interested. Keep in mind, flights often change and planes can be swapped out, so there's no guarantee that you'll actually fly on the type of plane listed on your reservation. It's more likely than not, though.

It varies depending on your plane.
Most of the flights I have been on, they have no screens.
They have free wifi for movies/TV shows on your iPad or phone. However, if your iPad is too old, it won't work (speaking from experience).

American is actively removing in-seat entertainment from their narrowbodies — I think they may be leaving them on the A321’s they specifically use for the transcon (JFK-LAX/SFO) but that’s it. They never put them in the legacy US Airways fleet and they are now taking them out of legacy American.

They are not necessarily "removing" them, they simply no longer build them into newer aircraft as they are now providing free entertainment via in-flight wifi on personal devices (phones, ipads, etc.).. As mentioned by a pp, the only exception is aircraft specifically used for longer-haul international flights..

They are removing them from their existing narrowbody fleet. Whether you want to call it removal or simply not replacing them during normal cabin refurbishments — the result is the same: aircraft that were previously equipped are no longer equipped.

American has physically removed existing screens from many of their planes.

Airlines reconfigure aircraft. They'll. Replace the seats with space saving seats, much less padding. They may install larger overhead bins. Screens are not part of the new configuration. Bring your own device. Saves weight. Less to break
