American Airlines Sale

What about the Entertainment book??? I haven't heard about this tip???! Please do share:) I don't have one, but is it easy to get a code from someone who does, or are they all individual codes, or can I buy a book anytime? I too got the email for the AA sale, and trying to decide if we should do a fall trip for my Bday end of Oct. We weren't planning on doing another trip this year, as we went to WDW in April. But I feel like the airfare sales are a sign that we should book a trip...Right?!

American has one promotion in my Chicago Entertainment book to save $20 pp for up to 6 people when you depart from Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, New York City, St. Louis, or Washington, D.C. The codes are all different - one per registered Entertainment book. There's another one to save $10 pp (for up to 6 people) on American flights anywhere, but there are blackout dates.

Yes, American does charge baggage fees. You can check out the amount on their website. I can't remember off the top of my head the $ amount.

:thanks: I thought I found a killer flight on Delta but with the baggage fees it ended up to be more than my SW flight. :lmao:

Yesterday my American flights were $60 ORD-LAX (plus taxes) and $59 LAX-ORD (plus taxes). Tonight the lowest fares are $149 each way - ha!
Looks like the big sale is indeed over. I checked mine and they have gone from $210 RT back up to $439! :scared1:

There are not very many non-stop flights out of Boise so I always have one or two stops depending on where I'm flying.
That makes sense then if there are not lots of flights. I just don't understand why there are no non stops from an airport as big as DFW. We flew home with SW at the last minute one year and I could almost swear we did not make any stops but they sure don't show any non stop flights anymore.

Does American charge baggage fees?
Unfortunately yes.

Nice that they give you 2 coupons! I only found one... but then again I might have missed something. I am just tickled to have made the book pay for itself!

I can't complain really. I got $95 each way for a direct flight at the times I wanted.
I know what you mean. Those rates make it hard to complain about anything!

Luggage fees did not use to be so bad. Unfortunately, they keep raising the rates.... what seems like every year. I usually forget to factor the luggage in since I end up paying cash for it at the airport. However, I glanced at the fees this year and it looks like I am going to have to make sure to take extra care and make sure I never ever go over the 50 lb weight limit again. I don't mind the $25 for the first bag but $100 per piece over the weight limit is a bit much! Anyway, glad SW worked for you.

I hope some other folks around here got to take advantage of the sale before it ended! If not.... be sure to sign up for those alerts and be sure to keep watching those fares! There will be more sales. You just have to snag them when you can!

Check the index, because the two American coupons are not in the same location.

Thank you for pointing out to me just what a nitwit I can be! Evidently, I need a lot more practice getting the most out of my Entertainment book! I had torn out 1 page and put it in the book with the other one as a bookmark I did not even think to look and see what the page was. Wouldn't you know it! The one I DID NOT use is the $20 off coupon! :sad1: Dang! I could have paid for my luggage! And I thought I was doing so well! :headache: Oh well. I don't suppose there is much I can do about it now. And in all honestly I am still happy with the savings. Just like StarTink, even though I missed saving a few more dollars I still got a great deal and it doesn't really matter so much as long as I'M GOING TO DISNEYLAND! :yay:

The $20 coupon in my book was good for flights only from the 8 cities I mentioned above, so it wouldn't have helped you on the flight to LA. (You could've used the coupon if you booked the trip as two one-ways, with the second flight originating in LA.) The coupon normally wouldn't have helped me, because I usually don't fly from Chicago. However, the fares from Chicago to LAX were SO good that I'm taking Amtrak to and from Chicago, and staying with my two daughters before and after the trip! :teeth:
