Those are actually pretty decent looking prices. I like that they have covered the whole October break too. :) I am already booked for this year, but it encouraging to see some affordable prices and for direct flights too. Are there any blackout dates or did you copy and paste from the email (i.e. offers as they stand)?

I have just tried doing a quick search for this October but it only offers me indirect flights from Manchester:confused3. I think its via Chicago !!!

Does anyone know if AA do direct from Manchester?

No they don't, if I remember rightly only direct AA route is Heathrow to Miami, all their flights into Orlando or Tampa are indirect.
From Manchester your only direct options are Virgin (or a Continental/Virgin codeshare) or a charter airline.
Unfortunately means Virgin can charge what they like in school hols. I was looking again last night for Oct half term, £1,368pp economy, they really do need some competition out of Manchester. Indirect has been our only option for past couple of years.

I find it odd that there isn't at least one other major airline offering direct flights from the UK (aside from London airports) during school holidays. There is obviously a reason for it but BA and VA really have the monopoly of the market - never a good thing for the consumer. And I won't fly BA again if I can help it. Besides my other reasons, their continuous disruptions due to strikes got a little old a long time ago. We won't even touch on the subect of baggage either .... :rolleyes1

I must admit, DD is now at an age where indirect doesn't really feel like a problem anymore either. If I do indirect, which is very likely, next year I will simply tag an extra day onto either side of our trip and use the travel time as part of an adventure so that it doesn't feel like loose time - psychologically anyway.
