American Airlines Opinion...?

Found a fairly good deal for my October trip to WDW from LaGuardia to Orlando on AA. Just wanted to know what everyone thought of them, I assume they are the basic reliable and safe large airline with no real 'perks'. I was looking at Song, which I flew in March, but the American times are better as well as the price and I can avoid JFK.

Thanks as always everyone!

I have flown AA twice with no problems. They are just like all the other "major" airlines.

Oh I forgot, the rate is about $175 R/T from the AA website (10/20 AM to 10/24 PM). Pretty good, although I'd really like to get a better rate since there seems to be so many good rates poppin' up.

Oh, if only JetBlue came down in price.. I lust to fly w/ them...

We haven't flown on them for quite a while, but we used to use them a couple of times a year and they were fine. Good on time record and decent aircraft (I like the two-across on the MD-80s). Once, we missed the plane due to our own fault (it was VERY early in the morning, so we checked in and then sat down at the wrong gate!!!). We were heading to Miami for a cruise, and they were so nice about getting us on the very next flight, even though they had to pay one peson to give up their seat. I was VERY impressed.

The details are too long, but my family agrees: we will only fly AA if the price is $50 per ticket less than the available flight.

AA is ok to fly. None of the major airlines offer any real perks any more.

If you want something to eat on the plane just buy something and take it onboard.

They still have a service aspect, but nothing like they were in the past.

Out of DFW, they have almost hourly nonstops to MCO so their flight times are great. Using my Cititravel I can fly RT to MCO for about $183 so it's just not worth the hassle for us to fly the smaller carriers.

Last month we were not scheduled to leave until 7:30 pm. Dh was able to take that day off from work so we decided to try for standby earlier in the day. It was a friday and many of the flights were booked. The Gate Agents worked very hard to get us on the flights and there were 5 of us total. I was so grateful when she handed me 5 boarding passes on the 2pm flight!
I learned my lesson and will just schedule earlier flight times in the future.

I like AA , if they are a few dollars more it is well worth flying AA.
they are a very professional airline.
