American Airlines has lost my luggage

The thing to remember about Carry on is that some people seem to think it is just wonderful. So don't bother fighting with them.

I also wish the airlines would enforce their own rules.

However, YOU (the carry on person) or YOUR travel companion MUST be able to lift you trunk into the overhead. It must FIT!!!

I see people getting on all the time with carryon's they can't lift. (Flight attendants are NOT your pack mules!!!) Also, the expandable compartment on the front of your 22" had better not be expanded!!!! Most business travelers like me will not assist you anymore with the luggage. We are just tired of attempting to pick up the lead weights people carry!

There are lots of trips I do make it with carryon. They are NOT to Disney and are normally short trips for business. If I am running late though I can still check and have done that. (I find I can sprint thru the airport faster if I have no luggage! LOL!)

I agree completely with Gail -- if it's not a necessity, it doen't belong in a carry-on. I am always amazed that most airlines don't enforce their carry-on size restrictions and allow people to cart on what I consider a suitcase, that takes up most of the overhead bin. Then I am stuck with my small bag between my knees, because the overhead is full! We had our luggage lost in a similar situation last year by Delta -- and as the airline promised, it was returned the next afternoon. I would just like to remind those that do "carry-on" everything, that sometimes it causes the rest of us that do follow the size regulations to sit uncomfortably with no leg room--- and just to consider this before taking a large carry-on becuase the chances are really slim that the airline will truely loose all of your luggage. In my honest opinion, if you can fit everything you need in what you consider a carry-on for a multiday trip to disney, your carry-on is probably in reality a small suitcase and should be checked for the curtosey of others traveling on the same plane.

I am with you all the way. If one more little old lady glares at me bc I won't help her with her bag stuffed with all of her wordly goods, I will scream! I am not a pack mule either, and I too LOVE the sky caps. It makes me feel good to know that I help keep them employed. :D My rule is if you can't lift it, neither can I!

On my business trips, I do carry on. I use an 18 inch rollie for trips up to 3 days. I had the agent weigh it "fully loaded" the other day bc I was curious. It came in at a whopping 33 pounds. At least I know now that if it falls out of the overhead it won't kill anyone, unlike a lot of the bags I see.

In all my flts, so far this year I am at 110ish, and this was a slow year, I've had exactly 0 bags misplaced. I've never waited more than 10 minutes for luggage. I guess I am just not in that much of a hurry, even when i am on a business trip.

If it falls on someone's head, it will do some damage. :)
