American Airlines GOLD status

Does anyone know how this works ? The way I understood what I read on the AA website, since we just made Gold Status last week, that only qualifies us until the end of February 2008, after that we lose the status ? That'd mean I'd never get to enjoy the benefits of being a Gold member since we don't plan on flying back 'til April

You should remain qualified through the end of February 2009, not 2008. Elite membership years run from March 1 through the end of February, however you gain elite status as soon as you qualify. You qualified this year for membership beginning March 1, 2008, even though you may use your benefits now. Make sense?

I agree with ExPirateShopGirl that your status should be good through February of 2009. You may want to take a look at www.flyertalk.com for some good inside info on any FF program.

Thanks for the help ! Being a Gold member 'til 2009 sounds great. Just being able to board in group 1 rocks
