American Airlines-EVouchers

Hi,

Due to a recent disasterous experience with American Airlines caused by a schedule change and then a reservation agent who completely screwed up our when I called about the schedule change, American Airlines has issued us (4) $50 evouchers. The supervisor I spoke to said these can be used on a future flight or for baggage fees. In order to save money on paying for the baggage on this trip, I would like to use the evouchers on baggage fees. It doesn't seem they are really good on anything else. The thing is she told me we could use them on baggage but I can't figure out how. I can't find anywhere on aa.com where you can prepay for bags.
Is anyone familiar with American and how these vouchers work? I really don't want to use them on a future flight because after my experience I don't plan on using American again.
We ALWAYS use Southwest but they have raised their fares WAY too high lately.

When we travelled in August we were able to pay for our bags online when we printed our boarding passes (24 hours before flying). I would try e-mailing or trying to find instant chat. Good luck.

It has been a while since I had an AA voucher and even then I used it towards a flight charge. However, I think you can use a voucher at the airport to pay your baggage fees for a flight on AA. The wiki at flyer guide says it can be used for "excess baggage fees" but this may have been written before baggage fees were common.

Not sure how this helps if you don't plan on flying AA. I am pretty sure the voucher can't be used for cargo. -- Suzanne

I suspect you need to pay for checking luggage at the airport vs. online to have them applied. The agents usually have a lot more options at their disposal as far as payment goes than the options that are available to the public online.

Thank you everyone. I have tried to call a couple of times but I was on hold for so long. At least 20 minutes each time. So I gave up.
