American Airlines anyone else have a seat assignment moved due to Automation?

In the end it didn't really matter. It was our final leg. Whether we were first or last off the plane, we were going to have to wait for luggage. I was one of the last 15 off and still waited 10 minutes for luggage to come out.

I still say "automation" = there was some change in seating and the computer ended up moving you. MUCH more likely than someone saying "I want THESE particular seats" and you getting bumped.

AA can definitely vacate the seat assignments if they sub in a different aircraft. Doesn't have to be a different type; if the tail number changes the system will start all over again.

Another thing that will cause AA flights to scramble a large percentage of the assigned seats is deadheading. Company policy is that deadheading air crew are always seated on the aisle, and they may decide to put aircrew on the flight within an hour of boarding. The system will always reassign other passengers to put aircrew in aisle seats up front and near the exits.
