Hi all! I'm not sure if this is the right board, but I have a question and have searched and searched and can't find an answer.

My DH's company is sending us to a convention in August in WDW and on our itinerary is listed dinner at the American Adventure Rotunda in EPCOT from 7pm - 9:30pm. Is this a restaurant in the American pavillion? Or is it a separate private room they rent out? From the posts I read on the disboards when I did a search it seems they hold wedding receptions here? What kind of attire would be appropriate? I'm guessing we would need to use a park pass to get in, which would really stink since we are arriving in Florida late afternoon and wouldn't be able to spend any time in the park prior to dinner? Is there any way to attend this without wasting a whole day's pass?

Thanks for any info any of you may have on this!!

Often, private functions are held in the rotunda area. The attraction switches and uses the exit for both entrance and exit. Tables are set up and catered meals are brought in to the normal "entrance" area.

I can't answer your question about the park pass, since this is a private function, some special ticket may be issued for an "after two" afternoon EPCOT entry. Groups and conventions often use different ticketing than what is available to the general public.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question, Chuck! I kind of thought that was where it was but couldn't imagine them closing down an attraction to hold a reception. Now I understand how they work it.

DH's company is giving us 4 day park passes to use, so it isn't like we are losing a day that we paid for, it would just be nicer to use it on another day that we have more time. Oh well, we are extending the trip anyway so we still need to purchase some kind of parkhoppers for the remaining portion of our trip. Can't complain about a free stay in disney!

I don't know if this holds true to all convention events but I attended a dinner in the Wonders of Life as a convention activity a few years ago. We were all staying at the Beach Club and they drove us all in a bus to a CM entrance to Epcot and right to a rear entrance of the attraction so we didn't need park admission that night.

Thanks, paras4ri. I hope they do something similar for us! That would be nice :) I guess I probably won't find out until we are there but it is nice to know that something might be arranged.
