Amending Virgin booking

Just pondering next years visit to Florida and decided that my initial booking probably needs amending, booked into the Sheraton World (standard room) but have heard good things about their tower rooms. With us being there for three weeks we thought that it would be a good opportunity to change to a five park flexi-ticket and take in Busch Gardens as well (we'd initially booked the four park flexi-ticket).

Tried to ring through to the Customer service line today which was really busy, so I sent an e-mail instead and received an automated reply saying they'd get back to us as soon as they could, but were understandably busy with other customers travelling elsewhere at the moment.

Looking online :badpc: , it says a £25 per customer surcharge is added on to any amendment, would these be seen as two seperate amendments or would it count as just one? Would I be better waiting til we get to the hotel and asking on the day whether we could upgrade to the tower room?

Any help/advice gratefully received!

Hi,

I'm a travel agent and most tour operators do not charge amendment fees if you are giving them more money. You are not amending as such, more upgrading what you have already got. Hopefully they won't charge.

when we changed our booking with virgin for Aug 2005, because we had increased the value there was no charge - so hopefully that will be the case for you as well.

We upgraded to Premium from Economy and weren't charged. I think the maxim is, if it costs more- no charge!

I wish I could say we gave Virgin more money & didn't have to pay an amendment fee, but that would be a lie - they wanted £25/person. I was outraged & in the end completely rejigged my plans, going from accommodation included to flydrive & booking digs myself (I never buy tickets from them), and even with the amendment fee ended up paying less than my original holiday! If I was amending to reduce the cost of my holiday, i would agree that a fee would be appropriate, but when you are giving them more money....

Just got my e-mail from Virgin, they've given me the cost of upgrading per night and the cost of the 5 park flexi-ticket, but as they've not mentioned the total cost of the changes, so I don't know if an amendment fee has been charged. I've asked them to clarify it for me, but I must say the quality of service with Virgin is extremely good, beats my Travel City Direct experience all ends up!

daveyoghurt- not to worry you, but when i was planning our dec2004 trip, i looked up hotels on tripadvisor and sheratonworld had some awful reviews, however i have heard r that the tower rooms are much better in quality (in case you're interested- we changed our hotel to the crowne plaza universal, the same star rating but it was gorgeous, very glad we stayed there).
Hope that helps

we stayed at the sheraton world last xmas...after being put in a room by the car lot..we asked to be transferred to the block, we manged the transfer and they were really good to us (also at the time they were having a few hot water issues) they didn't charge us extra, we had an amazing room and they also knocked off the daily charge hotels normally add on!The higher up in the tower also the nicer the view!
