These books are such a classic, I am sure almost everyone read or at least heard of the series.

As many of you may know I am in my junior year at the University of Central Florida majoring in Elementary Education. In my literature for children class we are faced with the assignment of conducting an author study.

There was no doubt in my mind who I would select, Peggy Parish.

This leads me to you! :goodvibes I have to gather brochures, posters, or other publicity materials to use in my presentation. Does anyone know who I could contact to get this information?

Thanks so Much,

Chris. :thumbsup2

Try Scholastic. I expect with their book fairs they might have some promo stuff for you. Who publishes Amelia Bedelia?? Contact them as well - you'll probably be able to get some bookmarks, etc. I loved reading A/B out loud at storytime - such a giggle fest!!!

When I took this course back in the Dark Ages, I did Peter Spier for my author study. Are any of his books still in print??

I did Alan Baker.............anybody know him, he does the little rabbit books that are a great, well-illustrated learning series..........shapes, sorting, ABCs, color mixing, numbers, telling time.............

Amelia Bedelia is published by Harper Trophy. Harper Trophy is an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. Thanks for your suggestions. The kids would love free bookmarks! :cool1:

I used to order bookmarks from ALA with characters on them - don't know if A/B is still around but it wouldn't hurt to check. Also your state library association might know some more...

I think I sent about five emails last night to various people and publishers. Hopefully I get a response back soon. Thanks all for your input and help! :)

I read them when I was younger, and my younger sister just adores them.

I'll talk to my aunt tonight. She met Peggy Parrish on several occasions when she was a librarian. I even have some autographed books. I'll let you know if she has any connections anymore.

Thank you so much! :goodvibes

She wasn't home when I called so I just sent her an e-mail. I don't know what she might know but it's worth a shot.

Oh my goodness.. Amelia Bedelia!!! I dont want to give my age away but Im over 35 and less than 37 :rotfl2: and I loved these books in Elementary school.. They were my absolute favorite!!

I finally got an email back!

Christopher ,

Thank you for contacting ALA Store customer service. Unfortunately we do
not have the kind of items you described. It appears there will be an
Amelia Bedelia movie coming out but none of the promotional materials have
been released yet.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you.

Best regards,
Valerie Kroetch-El'Ghaouti

There is a movie coming out! w00t w00t! popcorn:: :woohoo:

Peggy Parrish's nephew Herman Parrish is now the author of Amelia Bedlia. He cam to DD's school last year and was really good. I think you should try googling him and seeing what contact info you can get. Good luck!

Peggy Parish died probably close to ten years ago now.

I believe that since her death a family member has ghost written a couple more Amelia Bedelia books, but I"m not sure about that.

My aunt said that one of the librarians was good friends with Peggy but that since both passed, all connections have been lost. Sorry that I couldn't be more help. :guilty:
