any one who had this on order/ hold with Amazon? got an email that they're in stock now, but they're NOW not with free shipping.

? They offered it initially to free ship, but now they don't!

I preordered mine weeks ago and today (the release date) it still showing 'shipping soon.' It's suppose to arrive on the release date if you order in advance. I'm disappointed. Maybe there was a problem with their inventory.

I just got an email that my preorder has shipped. Estimated delivery on Saturday, Nov 19. I'm not upset that it didn't arrive today because I had completely forgotten that I had ordered it!

Mine still shows as shipping soon and shows free shipping. I wonder if they will email me before finalizing shipment if they decide to charge me shipping? I'm going to be angry if they list it as free shipping on my invoice right up until they ship and then change it, IMO that is bait and switch. TBH, I think they should honor free shipping to everyone who placed the order with it. Whether it was intended as free ship or not, that is what they advertised, and it isn't the consumers fault a mistake was made or they changed their mind.

OTOH, it's only a $7 book......if they give me a heads up they are going to charge me shipping, and give me time to cancel, I'll do that and buy it elsewhere.

Mine is still showing "shipping soon" with an estimated delivery date of 11/17...I have Amazon Prime, so I can't weigh in on the shipping charge thing. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't receive it on the 15th as originally estimated, but DS hasn't asked in a few days, so I'm OK for now

I also thought we were suppose to receive it on the 15th- release date.
This is the 2nd time this has happened. I know the initial information from Amazon said you'd get it on the 15th. I am going to pay closer attention next time.

Contacted amazon. they apologized, said they'd take off the ship fees since they offered free shipping on it.

Still, not in stock, so they say.

The scholastic books are softcover so we went with amazon. Mine says arrival on 11-17. Disappointed.

This has happend to me twice. Both times for books and the expected delievery date was a week after the book was released in stores. Both times I cancelled and bought the book at Target. I think the release date on preorders is when Amazon ships it not when you receive it. This is a also why I did not preorder the kindle touch. I can buy one in staples tomorrow and not have to wait for one for a week in the mail.

So I did an online chat with Amazon to express my disappointment. They maintained that it is still considered "on time" since I had chosen 2 day shipping. I let them know that the estimated delivery date was 11/15 when I ordered it and has been 11/15 for the last two months as the preorder sat there. I asked him to forward on my dissatisfaction...I guess theres not much more I can do at this point. It has gone to shipping, so I believe it is too late to cancel if I wanted to (but I don't).

Edited to add update: Lo and behold, it shipped about 30 minutes after I contacted Amazon...and the ETA is tomorrow. I wonder if my chat session had anything to do with that or if it was pure coincidence.

I cancelled my order because I am not paying $5 something for shipping. I will be heading back to Sam's club and just pay $8.47 there.

I got an email today saying that mine has shipped and will be here on the 17th as well. I have Amazon Prime too so idk about the shipping fees. Mine is also for Christmas so I'm not too worried about the delivery date. Hope it all works out for everyone else.

I would have preferred this but DS's teacher doesn't send home the forms this year. He asked her the other day about them and she said she has been. He has received 2, both the ones with games only and no books. I don't know if that is what she was talking about or what but he specifically asked for the ones with books!!!

I too would have ordered else where or just went out and bought it.

I am not too happy with Amazon over this. It is a small thing in the big picture but don't advertise something and follow through. I never saw free shipping unless with a $25 order so no idea about that.

I had an issue a couple years ago with the SW lego book. I ordered it in plenty of time and a couple days later it showed out of stock. Mine ended up never shipping and I got it months after my son's SW birthday.

I was a little disappointed that the book just shipped today to. So far my DD hasn't realized it was today that it came out. LOL
The reason I didn't order it from Scholastic was because the book was a paper back. My DD would have that destroyed in no time the way she reads these books.

i also preordered with the free shipping. I got a notice that i had to update to credit card expiration date, and when i did, it took away the free shipping! I cancelled my order and when asked why i said i was told free shipping and now that are changing and that I will NEVER order from them again!
