Amazon Prime Trial

It's available to anyone.

The top left corner of their home page has a line that says Try Prime. Click it and they will get you set up with a 30 day trial.

Thats how they got me...tried it and fell in love with it. :goodvibes

I LOVE Prime (and Amazon)! They have the best selection of free movies and shows I like to watch. Also, if you have an X-box (and maybe some other game consoles) you can get the app right on it and watch your movies and shows on the big screen.

I have even been getting some of my groceries (like cereal) shipped to my house for free using Prime.

I am doing the trial right now. Mine expires December 1. I've been less that impressed with the "2 day" shipping. I have ordered a bunch of stuff that had the word "prime" under it and nothing has arrived in less that a week. I have chosen the Prime 2 day option and still, nothing. I ordered a DVI cable for DS two weeks ago and it never came. I contacted Amazon and they said the order was "lost". great

Are you sure you purchased items directly from Amazon and not Marketplace sellers? Were the items in stock? Are you counting non-business days as shipping days?

Just don't forget to cancel. They hit your credit card exactly on the day it expires. I thought I had one more day.

Good to know! I will set an alarm on my phone the day before :goodvibes

You can actually cancel your free trial before the end of it and it will still let you use prime the full amount of time the trial is offered. I signed up for the Amazon Mom free trial on Sept 2 and I went on this morning to see when I needed to cancel it and there was a button under "Your Prime" that says "Manage Prime Membership." Once you click on that there will be a place to click to not auto renew your membership. I clicked on that button this morning and I can still use the trial membership until December 2.

For me, Prime isn't worth it. The prices aren't better than what I can find in stores and they use OnTrac to ship to me and I have never received an order when I ship it to my home. I have to ship it to my parents house a few towns over and pick it up there because OnTrac claims they can't find where I live. Amazon suggested I use 1 day shipping to ensure that OnTrac isn't the carrier used to deliver my packages. :rolleyes2

However, I'm glad I didn't cancel because DH uses the movie stream, I borrow books for my Kindle and the free shipping is going to come in handy for Christmas :)

If you forget to cancel before you're charged, Amazon will give you a refund if you haven't used Prime since the date of the charge.

did you get receipts of your orders that give you date your order is to be received on? ( 2 business days?) (go back & check)

you have to make sure on the item you order - that you had the option of choosing 2nd day FREE prime delivery.

IF you do not get it by that date, call up & complain.
I love my prime membership, but they have a habit of sending smaller items by USPS smartpost & it never arrives on time. I call , complain, & get anywhere from $5-$10 credit back to my amazon account, or have had extra months added onto my prime account. also they once sent me a replacement item overnight & I got to keep the previous one when it did arrive.
& tomorrow I will be calling again........ as my item will not be here as expected :thumbsup2

Love my Prime, especially the 2 day shipping. When I order in the evening (8-9PM) it still ships that day. I ordered something last Sunday, was still delivered yesterday(Tuesday)! Amazon should give some sort of discount on it, I spend a lot more $$ at Amazon because I don't have to pay for shipping for orders(most) under $25.

I bit the bullet and signed up for the free trial! Excited to get shopping now :thumbsup2

I ended up getting my prime membership several months ago and love it! I use it to watch tv shows, movies and get free 2 day shipping on most items. Now that Christmas shopping is upon me I know I made my "fee" back in free shipping. If you don't like it or don't get adequate use it is easy to cancel the trial.

Another Prime member here - I think I've had the membership for 3 years now. I order from Amazon a lot - we use a lot of specialty & organic food and Amazon is often half the price of what I can get things for here at Whole Foods, which is my only option. I also use it for household supplies and stuff - we probably get at least 3 boxes from Amazon a week.

I have to say that in the 3 years I've been ordering from them I've never had a prime box arrive late. Maybe it's dependent upon where you live? I'm guessing that our service is going to be even faster soon where I live because they're building a distribution center less than 30 miles from my house :)

For somebody who has an education membership - do you have to request it? I have a .edu membership but I pay full price.

It's under student membership and when you register you have to have an email address that ends in.edu. You will get 6 months prime for free and then if you continue, prime is 1/2 priced.

I have the free trial right now and I gotta say the movies stink. There's not much of a selection of new free movies, they all seem to be old. We'll probably try Netflix and see if we like their selection better. My niece wanted to watch Little Mermaid and it wasn't a free prime movie you had to pay for it:confused3

The free shipping is nice, but I don't honestly buy enough to justify it with the movie selection being as crappy as it is.

We used to have both and found that the selection was nearly identical. Amazon costs less, lets you rent or buy things they dont offer free and comes with shipping on so many things it made netflix a silly option. Its been about 6 months so I suppose its possible it has changed. Are you sure you are looking through all the options? Ive found that its easy to overlook a large portion of the selection because it is divided into categories and most people only flip through the most played choices.
