I was considering doing the 30 day trial. Is it easy to cancel if I decide not to keep it? Do you find it is worth the money? Thanks

Amazon should not give you any issues cancelling it. I've always found them easy to deal with. I love having Prime. I think it's totally worth it, between the free shipping and kindle lending and streaming of movies, I think it's great. But I'm a very avid Amazon shopper. If you only use it here and there it probably wouldn't be worth it.

My dd has a Kindle. You can watch movies on it? What about if you have a smart tv? Can you watch movies that way? Is is just movies or tv shows also? I am not too tech savvy about such things...LOL What is the book lending that you are talking about? Unlimited books?

I like having Prime, but once my student half-off discount runs out this year I won't be renewing. Can't afford the $70. The kindle lending library is borrowing up to one book a month then keeping it for as long as you want. Unlimited streaming works on a kindle fire or any computer/tablet with the amazon instant player app installed, and it's movies and tv. Not as large a selection as netflix, but enough to satisfy me. And then there's the two day free shipping on select items. Worth it if you shop online a lot, I haven't this year.

How do you get the student half off discount? My DS is a college student at a community college. Would he be eligible?

I signed up for that free trial about 5 years ago in November, and when all my christmas shopping for family all over the US with 2 day shipping was included, I was hooked. Now I would never give it up, as I love watching movies and tv series on my iPad. The selection is pretty amazing. Loaning books via Kindle app is a nice perk too. The amazing thing is that I believe the price has not risen in all the years I have had it.

I cancelled it once after the free trial. It was easy - you can cancel online and it just takes a minute or two.

I would never cancel my Amazon Prime. It is great. I can things shipped 2 day to anywhere I am or have them shipped to my kids and parents. Then add streaming and book lending. I make my money back in a few months.

You can go into Manage My Prime Subscription in the account settings and change the default to not auto renew subscription.

I have only used the free trials and this is what I always do.

We've had it for a few years now and definitely feel it is worth it. I've lost track of the number of times we have needed to order something in a rush for work, school, or some project and having free two day shipping has been a life saver. We also watch a lot of movies and tv shows through it for free.

My only complaint is that I wish they didn't remove movies and tv shows as fast as they do sometimes. Limited license I guess. There have been a few times when I saw something I wanted to watch, but didn't have the time just then to do so, and later when I went back to watch it, it was gone. I'm still mad they took MI-5 off. I was barely into season 3!

If you order a lot from amazon and like to watch video through your computer or handheld, then you'll enjoy it.

I did it last year just for xmas shopping and it was great! I was worried about canceling too but it really was very easy. I wonder if they will let me sign up again for the free trial?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess I will try it out and see if we think we would get our moneys worth. If not, I can cancel since everyone says it is easy to do. I appreciate the input:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. I am thinking about getting Amazon Prime too. This has been very helpful. If the 30 day trial doesn't work out for me then I will cancel.

Go to Amazon and read about the Prime program. Your questions are answered there:

I have had Prime since the program started. It's totally worth it!

Just don't forget to cancel. They hit your credit card exactly on the day it expires. I thought I had one more day.

However, I'm glad I didn't cancel because DH uses the movie stream, I borrow books for my Kindle and the free shipping is going to come in handy for Christmas :)

Good to know! I will set an alarm on my phone the day before :goodvibes

It's been years since I've had a free trial because I totally love my Prime and happily pay for it, but back when I did the free trial I don't think you got access to the kindle owners lending library and I don't think there was full access to all the prime movies and tv shows. Things might have changed by now though.

It's available to anyone.

The top left corner of their home page has a line that says Try Prime. Click it and they will get you set up with a 30 day trial.
