Amazon prime day!

I'm a little bummed that the gift cards sell out so quickly. Would have loved to buy some restaurant gift cards that aren't as cheap on the resale sites - plus I'm more comfortable buying from Amazon as well.

I knew they would, so I pounced on them as they went online.

If you have an iPhone, you can set it up so that you get notified when a lightning deal goes live within a few minutes.

I didn't buy much today but still spent more than I'd planned. Bought a new waterproof cover for DS's matress for $13 and a FitBit Blaze for $140. I had ZERO plans of the fitbit but I'm currently using an OLD Flex that was given to me by my mom. I've been using it for 3 years and she had it for 2 years before that so it was beyond time to upgrade. I'll give my Flex to DS instead of replacing his offbrand tracker that recently crapped out

I still need to decide which kindle book to buy so I can get my 40% credit. And am sort of watching for a new LBB for ds as his expires soon

I'm sure you'll get it, they are probably running slower than normal today. I may have just been lucky.
For whatever reason my book was stuck on "pending." I synced my Voyage and that forced it through. The receipt and notification for a credit popped up as soon as I did that.

I bought a bunch of odds and ends today and caved and got an Echo and Prime music. I was really hoping for a laptop, but they didn't have anything even close to what I was looking for. I ended up getting a Sherpa carrier for my cat, set of cake decorating tips and bags, an multi-adjustable desk/task light, cans of Sanpelligrino sparking fruit juice (was half the price I can buy around here) and a backpack that folds up into a little bag.

Kind of excited about the backpack. I was looking at a similar Patagonia one just yesterday that was way more expensive. I'm not a backpack person, but this is something I could stuff in my park bag in case I needed more space or if my cross body bag starts to bother my neck.

Did anyone else have trouble buying something? I set up a watch list yesterday but some of the stuff wouldn't save. Then I clicked on many different things as soon as they went live and still missed buying them or going on the waitlist. Some of those were supposed to be birthday or Christmas gifts.

Yes. I was watching a shirt, but I logged on to Amazon a couple of minutes after the lightning sale started and it was already "100 percent claimed" and waitlist was full. I had no idea the item would be so popular! It was really only a few dollars less than the sale price, but it annoyed me so I didn't buy it! So I went to the Gap, which is having a great sale, and got a similar shirt for $5! Sorry you didn't have luck. Be sure to check other retailers. Many are competing with their own sales.

I picked up a 3 pack of new 16GB Kindle Fire 8s - our current Fires are between 2-5 years old and have no camera, mikes, or easy upgradable storage space...figure I can replace all our current tablets...and it only cost $127...which was the price of the last one I bought, I think:)...

I also got the $25 Amazon gift card to get the $5 and I got a Friday's gift card for $39.50. Still deciding if I'm gonna use the book credit, but that's the last thing I'll spring for (since I wanted a 3ds, but they were not on sale)...

I bought a bit more than I anticipated, though with the exception of the slow cooker book and baby toys, everything else were things that I had been looking to buy once I found a good deal. I ordered:

Lillebaby infant carrier
Knee/elbow/wrist pads for DH (he is learning to rollerblade)
Veggie spiralizer
Handheld steam cleaner
Maternity support belt
Baby teething toy
Baby wooden bead maze toy
Asian slow cooker book
Snap pliers with 360 sets of snaps (for sewing baby clothes)
Laptop stand for DH's treadmill walking desk
Velvet shirt hangers
Velvet kids hangers

I didn't have any trouble actually buying something (I only bought 2 actual things) but I did have some issues and errors trying to add stuff to a watchlist. I click on "watch deal" and it would say something like "Failed..trying again" I logged out and logged back in and I went to the deals I was watching and a few random things that I never clicked on popped up on the list along with the items I was trying to add to my watchlist but were failing out. I'm guessing there was a few glitches here and there. Sorry to hear you were having issues getting b-day and christmas gifts :sad1:

Minnie Mouse Havaianas flip flops for $12.50
Two large Mission Enduracool cooling towels for $3 each (which came with free lip balm for some odd reason)

I didn't buy anything that I didn't need! I am so proud of myself.

But did you guys notice how difficult it was to determine the actual price of the items? On many things, I couldn't tell until I clicked on "check out". The towels, for example, went from $15 each in my cart to $3 each when I checked out. They shouldn't have...because underneath the $15, it said "prime members get 50% off". Same deal with the shoes. It seems like they would want you to know how "on sale" things were before you decided to buy. Weird business model.

We use kindles in our business for prizes so got a bunch of them. Also got the kindle unlimited subscription (myself and my daughter use it a lot- and my favorite author Brett Battles is available with KU). Couple other things - had to take stuff out of my cart as I had a total higher than I wanted:P

I had a few things on my watch list, but the only thing I bought was Overwatch for my son. I was also looking for a computer and didn't see anything worthwhile but with school starting soon here in FL I'll have to keep an eye out locally (we're already seeing back-to-school ads).

Husband got himself a new kindle. I am still quite happy with an old Kindle 2 (the ones with free 3G!) with the keyboard and have several of them scattered around the house, so no need for that. Got 2 pairs of trail shoes 50% off, although one isn't going to ship for a month or two, which is actually okay, as my nickname is quickly becoming "running shoe Imelda" so spacing out two new running shoe purchases, when I just bought 2 new pair last week is probably for the best! Got a dress at an okay price and some bluetooth earbuds that I've been needing for hiking. (On my weekend hikes, when I get to steep inclines and have to boulder straight up and down, cords get tangled!)

I got an Echo Dot for $35, plus received a $10 Amazon credit because I ordered it through my Echo. I also picked up a pair of sneakers for 30% off.

We're traveling to Scotland in October, and so I have a shopping list for it. The exact same pair of waterproof hiking boots I have in the list was also on sale for 30% off, so I got them.

I'd really, really love to get a Kindle, and was pretty close to getting one, but couldn't justify it. I have a pretty old-school Nook, but it has a LOT of Barnes & Noble books on it. Hopefully, the price will lower again for Black Friday and I'll be ready to make the switch.

So I apparently missed a 70% off sale on a different model of bluetooth earbuds that will do everything but yodel "all my rowdy friends have settled down" in Low German. Went on Amazon today (I really shouldn't have) and there they were on a lightning deal for 70% off.

Argh. I am NOT going on that website to check shipping again today. . .

I bought a bunch of $0.99 Dash buttons, just to get free items using the $4.99 credit they come with. I bought 14 in all I think. I only picked ones that had products that cost less than the $4.99 credit, and that I would actually use. I'm now reading up on how to program my router so I can re-purpose the buttons for other things (I will honestly never use them again to order from Amazon). But that's more a fun "cause I can" thing than anything else. Yes, I'm a geek :)

The only other thing I bought was a tube of Differin gel for DD17 (acne). The sales ended up being not that great on the other items I was watching. I was disappointed in many of the prices actually. When I checked camelcamelcamel for the price histories, some items were cheaper a few days before Prime Day than they were on it!

I debated the Echo Dot, but ended up not getting it. I'm not ready to invest a whole bunch of money into smart light bulbs, outlets and switches yet, and I think that would be the only functionality on it that warrants buying yet another electronic device. The only other things I'd end up using the dot for would be the occasional weather report, and maybe the alarm. So not worth spending the money right now. I also want to see where Google goes with their device in the next year or so. Maybe I'll bite the bullet on Black Friday and get something - at that point, I'll have started a significant remodel of my home and might be ready to invest in more smart home stuff.

The Echo and the grill cover (see my first post on the thread) just got delivered. Will have to wait a few hrs to see up the Echo though :flower1:
