amazon pre orders

is anyone familiar with amazon's pre order process? I'm just wondering if they send the item out on the date the item is to be released or if they ship it a little earlier so you receive the item on or close to the release date.

i have pre ordered from other sites that have shipped so that i had the item on release date and would like to know if amazon does the same. i didn't seen anything on their site that addressed this.

I have received at least one pre-order from Amazon.com that was delivered the day before it was "supposed" to be released.

I just pre-ordered HSM3 and it ships 2/23. I'm not sure when the dvd is being released in B&M stores.

Thanks. It looks like we'll be getting our copy after it's out in the stores, but that's OK. I'm in no hurry for it.

I have pre-ordered many things on Amazon, including Wall-E and Prince Caspian, and all have come before the release date in retail stores.

They are supposed to ship out the day it is released but sometimes they make a mistake and ship it earlier. They are not supposed to. They can get some pretty large fines if it is discovered that they are shipping before release date.

unless they specifically cut a deal with them to ship early. I used to work at a game store and we could get some hefty fines for selling merchandise before the release dates.

I ordered The Tudors, Season Two from Amazon and they shipped it the day it went on sale...so I got it three days later. I was not happy. I won't do that again.

You're close to HQ, but not close to a fulfillment center, same as me. Same as anyone in WA, since they closed the FC in Seattle.
