I ordered the $139 Kindle for my MIL on 12/19 and it said that due to the numerous orders it was out of stock and wouldn't arrive in time for xmas. Okay, our fault. We ordered it anyway, but today if you look at the $139 Kindle it says order in time for xmas with 2-day shipping. Hey, we would've paid for expedited shipping if that were the problem when we ordered.

I went to my open orders and tried to change the shipping and it is now in the processing phase and says it cannot be altered. What can I do? Is there a number to call Amazon - I spent 20 minutes searching that site and couldn't find any "contact us" number, email, etc. I'd hate to order a second Kindle and have to return the first one as I don't want to tie up my cc that way but is there any other option?

Since it's already processing, I'd wait until that changes to ships to see what the estimated delivery date will be. They may have shipped it to arrive on/by the 24th anyway so you won't have any worries. You can also click on 'view order details', it's on the left side of the page on your orders section of 'my account', then click on 'help' at the very bottom on the page. There'll be a 'contact us' button on the help page that lists ways for amazon to be reached.

Its the Yellow Button that says "Contact Us" on the right side of the page under help.

You can either send an email, call them, or put your phone number in and they will call you.

Usually when it says Processing, that means the label has printed out in the warehouse and it will be shipping soon. I'd bet you have a Tracking Number by morning.

I've been told Amazon has sold an amazing number of those $139 Kindles the past 2 months and they've just barely been able to keep ahead of inventory demand.

I had a problem that was simular-and I called them. They sent the item out that day, next day express and didn't charge any extra for the rush shipping. Give them a call, you never know!

I ordered a kindle on December 13. During checkout I was informed that I would have to pay for two day shipping in order to guarantee delivery by Christmas. Fine, I paid for the two day shipping. However I didn't get the item in two days, it was five days later. :confused3
I have ordered many things from Amazon and this is the firstr question I ever had with their shipping. Usually it is quicker than expected.

My mom ordered a kindle and it came super fast. (Like in a day and a half.) I would call them (I always use the button on the website where they call me if I need to get in contact with them.) Their service is good. They overnighted something for me for free when I had a similar situation one Christmas.

This week Amazon shipping seems to have been unussually busy. I typically order 2-day shipping and have it in my hands two days later. This week I ordered on Monday with Two-day Shipping and they said Delivery would be December 24th. :scared1:

Yes, the week before such a big gift giving holiday is busier than usual.

The fact that you can order something and have it arrive so soon, meaning that they will get that item through the shipping process in about 2 days to get to teh shipper (who handles the two day shipping part) is astonishing and amazing!

I ordered mine on the 18th and paid for 2 day shipping. It still said a delivery date of December 29th!!!!!

I got mine today :)

Actually the Amazon website states:

Two-Day Shipping Rates for U.S. Deliveries
Delivery within 2 business days
No P.O. boxes or APO, FPO, or DPO
Saturday delivery available for certain locations.

So doesn't that mean delivery in two business days? Not two days from when they get it to the shipper. :confused3

Thanks for all the replies and stories. I used the link and had them call me. I'm sorry to say the customer service rep that called was difficult to understand and really didn't have any great advice. Since my order was being processed he couldn't change the shipping speed. My only option is to order a second Kindle for overnight delivery and when the second one arrives to refuse it. The problem with that is that I sent it to my MIL directly and I don't want her to have to refuse it or return it if it is just left at her door.

Two minutes after I got off the phone I got the shipping invoice from amazon and it says delivery will occur on 12/28. Oh well.

As soon as you pull up the tracking number on the shipper's website you'll see the correct delivery date.
