Amazon Kindle Lovers, I have questions

I love my Kindle! So many free books available and I love being able to carry my books with me easily. And I really love that I can use the kindle app on my phone and it syncs to the spot where I left off on my kindle. That's great for times when I forgot my kindle but have a few minutes to read.

I have the previous generation Kindle and love it. The only complaint I *did* have was the lack of library lending vs. the Nook. Now that they've started that, I can't think of a single thing that I don't like about it. Easy to sync and get books, the true print type screen is super easy to read (even outdoors in the sun), it's lightweight, holds a ton, etc, etc, etc. I think I'm even going to get my 10yo one for Christmas, so I definitely recommend! :goodvibes

Love my Kindle! Right now I am reading a new best seller that I borrrowed from the library. I have the Kindle with Special Offers and one of the special offers was a $100 Amazon Gift Card if I applied and was approved for the Amazon Credit Card! $100 pretty much paid for the Kindle; I paid $114 for mine.

If its the same price as Amazon - I'd go with Amazon - their Customer service is AMAZING!

DD Kindle screen cracked - Thursday night - she was to head to a college campus for a "camp" and had planned on that kindle - well I fully expected to pay for overnight shipping - nope, they covered it! Over and above!

my favorite for freebies is the Amazon discussion board - one poster always posts the freebies (she highlights FREE BOOKS then lists the dates - ) I also have bookmarked the thread with the reduced price books - I have picked up so many great books - at bargain prices!

(for today I bought First Ladies by Feather Schwartz Foster $3.39

Start Price: $9.99
The Legacies and Personalities that built the White House... )

I love my Kindle (3rd generation) and gave one as a birthday gift a few months back. It is tremendously convenient to have my "library" with me when I have a minute or two to catch up on my reading. :goodvibes I subscribe to the local paper and a few blogs too. Magazines are available too, but the format is not quite as good, although certainly doable.

I love my kindle. I read books, blogs, and listen to audiobooks on it. One thing to be careful about though is it is more fragile than it looks. I'm on my 3rd Kindle since June. Amazon has replaced them for me immediately, but still three in 5 months made me change my mind about giving it as a gift to my 11yo (yet).

It's the Wi-Fi only version which is why it's cheaper. The version with Wi-Fi and 3G is the one I have and it's more expensive. BTW, I love my Kindle. I think we're buying the one you're looking at for my MIL. Her vision is going and she can enlarge the print on the Kindle.

I was going to give this as a gift. Is this a good price? Can you give me the good, the bad and the ugly about this Amazon Kindle. The price seems too good to be true. Thanks.

Have it and love it! :) Some people that are into the latest bells and whistles don't like that their is no keyboard or touch screen, but I add to my kindle from Amazon.com from my computer so it doesn't matter to me. :)

I bought it from Amazon.com and could start loading stuff before it got to me. :)

It was a difficult adjustment for me from paper to any e-book. The Kindle is very kind on my eyes. I LOVE not having the clutter of books. I don't get the 3g vs Wi-Fi == little to know difference if you are using it just for reading.

Ok, so anyone with a Kindle with Special offers, what if you are not on a wi-fi connection? Does it just have a blank screen then? I assume that it needs wi-fi for the offers. We want to get Mom one for Christmas but there is no wi-fi at her house. Will she still be able to use it fine if we set it all up for her and she just uses the wi-fi at various places out and about?

I have the 3G one. Useful if you're at the airport without a free wi-fi connection and realize you need something to read for the flight. I've gotten books delivered to my kindle last minute several times.

You only need wifi to download. After you buy the book and download it, it is on the Kindle for you to read until you remove it.

DH and I share a Kindle (I'm hoping for my own when new version comes out). Love it, however some books are better suited to hardcover. I bought The Night Circus for my Kindle and wish I didn't. I find myself wanting to flip (books takes place in different time periods) and it is not so easy to flip back with a Kindle imho. But other than that, a great investment (this coming from a librarian!)

I love my Kindle. My DH kept wanting to put stuff on there to read but I didn't want to share so he had to go buy his own. It's a space saver if your like me. I always kept all my books boxed up in closets. I did donate every now and then but the books were stacking up. This way it's all there in one little device.

Love love love my Kindle. My mom and I both have one and share an account. That way all our books are on both Kindles. Love the library lending as well. I can always find plenty to read.

I don't have a need for the 3G so the wifi works great for me. If I am travelling I just load up on books beforehand. The other nice thing about the wifi is that if you turn it off you can keep library books longer. My library only lends for 2 weeks, but it will stay on my kindle until I turn the wifi back on. Love that!
