Sorry to hear that your having problems with them. That really stinks! Since you haven't been charged yet for the items that haven't shipped yet, I would cancel some of those and go and buy them at a local retailer (
walmart/Target/TRU etc.)
I will say, although not as exciting as opening up the actual gift, Santa brings IOU's in our house. Sometimes the elves just can't keep up with demand and he promises to bring them as soon as he can! I know it isn't ideal but it is a way to still have Christmas.
I hope everything works out for you and your family
We thought about IOU's and I am really okay with doing that for a few things, but I just hate to do that for almost everything. I will update at the end of this post with what happened, and I really appreciate hearing that we are not the only ones to ever be in this position.
ZPT1022- I'm sorry to hear about all your troubles with
Amazon. That really sucks! I think the previous poster had a really good suggestion about cancelling the orders if they haven't already shipped. Amazon charges your CC as things are shipped so perhaps you haven't been charged yet. Good Luck & I hope you are able to still have a wonderful Christmas!
Most of my stuff says "Shipping soon, this order cannot be canceled or changed", but yet some of it is not due to ship til after Christmas

Good to know about the CC though, that may prove helpful in the end

WOW
I don't blame you for being ticked off...I would be too...but I cannot imagine that they are being so unhelpful. As I have said in previous posts I have been floored by their GREAT service and how they have gone out of their way to get things here by Christmas...and I know that they are LOSING money on the deal by doing that. I will have things that I ordered with free super saver shipping AFTER they were done with the by Christmas shipping.
I hope that something works out...definitely think about doing IOU's...you have to figure something out that will work for you and your family. You certainly don't want to ruin the spirit of Christmas for your children because of one "issue" (a big one I know).
GOOD LUCK! And Merry Christmas!
I guess Amazon.com is kind of like calling WDW, keep calling til you get the right person on the phone. I finally did and WOW, what a difference. I feel like she is almost personally vested in making sure this works out. Now THAT is the kind of service I keep hearing about, both on this thread and the gottadeal forums too.
How about the reason for the season. Remember, christmas is not about gifts.
I do not think it was right of amazon to advertise what they did and not follow through, same thing here, thank goodness it makes no difference to us if they arrive before christmas or not.
I know it's not just about gifts, really I do, and our celebrations with family and our attendance at services won't be affected but this is sort of a rough year for our family (lots of deaths this year so people that won't be there, including a grandmother) so I guess I was just trying to make sure the things that I could control still went well.
Plus my kids are at the prime age for believing in Santa- 3, 3 and 6 so I guess I just want to enjoy that part while I still can.
I also worry that if there are no Santa gifts under the tree that DD6 will think that it's because she's a bad person and Santa is punishing her. This is probably all my fault because I have been telling her the last few weeks that she needs to be on her best behavior because Santa is watching. She's not a bad kid, just the normal kid stuff, but I know she would think that it was because she was bad if nothing was there.
We did talk to her about scaling back this year and instead increasing the amount that we donate to help needy families, and we did do that, but to have nothing for them under the tree on Christmas morning would still be a disappointment. We thought about not doing gifts on Christmas morning and waiting for Three Kings Day in January, but that's not our tradition and honestly not a tradition that we want to start. I guess we're just old and set in our ways
Wow ZPT1022, I'm shocked at the difference in service you got compared to what I got. That's really strange. Polar opposite experiences!!
I am sorry for you, and I really hope you can pull it together for your kids. Good luck!!
I guess I really just kept getting the wrong people. Thank you all for listening and letting me vent . I really truly do appreciate it.
After being on hold for over 25 minutes with the unhelpful rude lady this morning I finally hung up. Our phone call according to the timer on my phone was over an hour at that point, most of which I spent on hold.
When I had talked to her she suggested that I should cancel things that might be backordered and upgrade the rest of my shipment ($3.99 per item). I asked if there was any way to possibly put the backorder items as a separate order (to arrive when they became available) and then just proceed with the rest. I also asked what the total in additional shipping costs would be. Both reasonable requests, I thought.
After 25+ minutes on hold I finally had enough and I had to get some stuff accomplished in the house, like feeding my three year olds, since I had now been on the phone for close to two hours between the two customer service reps.
I did a few things like feed the kids, switch the laundry, get a glass of water, etc.... and decided to check online to see if anything had changed with the shipping. I went to amazon.com and logged in to find that a bunch of things from my order were canceled without my permission.

I gave myself a few minutes to calm down since I have really been trying my hardest not to yell, get angry, or be rude. I know I have a temper but I also know it won't get me anywhere in a situation like this.
So I call and I get the most helpful person ever. I love her. Seriously. She was awesome. And I was thinking to myself, so this is what everyone means when they mention the great customer service. She is the best. She's making it all work out. She got my canceled items ordered again, and best yet, at the original prices. They're also shipping the fastest way possible. There were things that she couldn't fix due to how they originally shipped out but that's really not her fault. She fixed everything I had hoped she would be able to and she was super nice about it. She's been emailing me and she's actually going to call me back when she is sure that everything is settled in the computer system.
So I guess long story short, I am still a bit disappointed in the service up until now. I wish they wouldn't promise things that they don't intend to deliver on. I wish that I didn't have to call so many times. I wish that my stuff was all going to arrive when it was promised to but I do feel like this woman that I spoke with really went the extra mile to make things happen. She is getting as much as she can here on time. I did notice one package that showed as not arriving til after Christmas on amazon's tracking, shows that it is at a PO 40 minutes from my house on the usps website. That's encouraging.
I am off to the mall soon

to try to fill in the cracks a little and tie up some loose ends. Again, I thank you all for listening, I totally freaked when it looked like nothing was working out and no one could help. I'll let you know how it turns out but I have confidence in my new buddy at amazon, I think that it will work out (as much as she can make it)
