Anyone have a code for them or another book carrier? I need to get a fiction book for DS that he has been begging for.

TIA!
Debbie

Here's a link to overstock.com for 12% off. (new customers) But if you have an overstock account already, just create a new one with a new email address and you can get the 12% off coupon. They have plenty of books and tons of other things.

It is for 12% off your entire purchase.

Hope that helps you.

Not really a "code" but you can earn gift certificates for minimal work. Go to InsiderPages and click the link for the Amazon promotion they're running. Do up to 30 reviews for Amazon GCs. You earn a $10 GC for each 10 reviews that you do, up to 30. Two people in the same household can do reviews, so you can technically earn $60 in free Amazon GCs.

There are some rules as to what you can review (be sure to read through those - no chains, I think no restaurants or bars/clubs, etc) But each review is relatively painless. They need to be at least 50 words, which when all it said and done is only a few sentences and only takes a few minutes each.

If you're stumped as to what to review, I looked up my local Chamber of Commerce website and used the lists of shops, services, and attractions. They also had their own descriptions which helped a LOT when I was stumped as to what to say.

It can be a little daunting to think you need to sit and write 30 reviews, so break it up. Maybe do 5 reviews each time you log on. Or do 10 a night. Something manageable. Or if you have the time to sit and spend at the computer, go ahead and do it all at once!

Don't email them that you've finished your reviews until you've finished ALL the reviews you plan to submit. They have a pretty quick turn around for getting the codes for your GCs sent to your email - so you should be able to buy that book within a couple days of finishing reviews.

Thanks for the info, MyGoofy26. We use Amazon.com a lot and between Vividence and InsiderPages, it will sure help to cut down n some of the costs. I did the reviews last month at Judy's Book for the Starbucjs GC (still waiting for it). I'm sure that I can think of 10 local businesses but I'm not sure about 30 of them! I should start making a list.

How many did you do for JudysBook? You can use the same reviews, just "rewrite" them so they aren't carbon copies (since they do usually check to make sure you're not using the same reviews on both sites)

Also, they don't have to be in your area - if you've lived elsewhere or vacationed somewhere. . people have had luck using businesses outside their local area.

A LOT of people just open their phone book to the yellow pages and find businesses. Like I said, I had the most luck using our local Chamber of Commerce site. Or if you have a rest area with a visitor information desk - stop in and pick up some pamphlets. You'll find a LOT of non-chain businesses that you never thought of. Don't forget you can use local attractions as well. I've done parks, zoos, pools, museums, tours, etc on top of shops and services.

thanks for the tip. I buy alot of stuff off of Amazon for Christmas - so I wrote 30 reviews today for myself and 30 under my husband's name. I did notice that it requested that family members not review the SAME businesses - it was difficult to find 60 different places in our small town.

I finally ended up going to the find a business section and searching for our area - then I would scroll down the list of names returned until I recognized a place, and then review it. In all, it probably took me a little over 2 hours to do all 60.

I hope I get the certificates soon.

Thanks again - $60 is a great deal. :)

Just bumping. :Pinkbounc

And I wanted to add that Amazon is now offering a discount of 1.57% (л/2) for using their new search engine A9.com

I found it thru a link on Amazon's website. It's in the blue "Ready to Buy?" box when you've clicked on an item. The problem is that they don't tell you how many times you have to search or how often (ie. is it something like 25 total searches? Or 5 per day for a month?) They just dont' say. They simply state that the symbol л/2% will appear in the left portion of the search bar when you've earned your discount.

It's not much of a discount but it costs absolutely nothing for you to get it if you're doing a search online anyway.

I just could not come up with 30 businesses. I ended up with 23. Did the extra 3 just in case some didn't count. Has anyone received their $$ yet?

I completed mine on the 8th and I still have heard anything other than that first email.

I know when this first started, that they were getting the GC codes to people within a day or two. . but this has been bouncing around deals boards for a couple weeks so I'm sure they're getting slammed. Especially since they not only have to check that each review meets their requirements, but also that each review isn't cross-posted at JudysBook.com (which you can get free Starbucks GCs for the same deal)

Well, I've earned my л/2%. My search page shows 78 searches in 7 days, (32 in the past 48 hrs). 1.57% isn't much of a discount but I'll take it for just that little bit of work.

Just FYI, I completed my 30 reviews and emailed them on the 10th and got my GC Codes today.
YAY :cool1:
Am thrilled I found this one!
