OK now the details!
Our room had been renovated, but not too long ago because it was still very clean and didn't look like it had been lived in much at all. The colors are warm and airy without being pastels; tans and greens and beiges, with some rusty reds thrown in for contrast. The beds were very comfortable, soft but not too soft and with a sheet under and on top of the blanket. We were on the garden side on the first floor so we had a patio. Every time we opened the slider a flock of very hungry ducks would appear. Some mornings they actually were pecking at the glass. They do seem to like popcorn.
We weren't planning on the luxury of having the lounge, but adjusted quite easily. The lounge area was always very well supplied. Our breakfast choices were Danish, bagels, Hawiian bread, croissants and fruit or toast. There was always cereal and I think yogurt was there if we had asked. Juices were available and we really enjoyed the orange guava juice. In the early afternoons we had cookies, but didn't take the popcorn or gummie candies as we saw a number of children just reaching into the bowls. We generally went by and picked up sodas to take to the pool. The lime tartlets were heavenly and the brownies were very good. We went by only one evening before dinner and had a drink, but didn't eat much because we didn't want to spoil our dinner. But the aroma of the pork BBQ for sandwiches almost made us blow off the PS at Narcosse!
The CMs at the concierge desks were friendly and very helpful. They helped us rearrange a lunch PS, made spa appointments and even arranged to have the chocolate strawberries delivered to our room Saturday night while we were at dinner. A package that we had sent back to the hotel from the MK on Thursday morning still wasn't delivered by Saturday morning and the concierge team went to work, tracked it down, and brought it right to us.
As far as the expense of reserving at the concierge level, I think we'll probably do it for one trip a year. Normally we stay at SOG but usually stay at a Disney hotel once a year; next time we'll go ahead and reserve at the Poly in concierge. We really loved the hotel and the location and that's kind of funny because we'd never really thought we'd want to stay there. Now we're converts!
We've found that each hotel we've stayed at has some wonderful features. The only Disney deluxe we haven't stayed in is the WL, and its on our list.
This upgrade was probably a once in a lifetime event and we loved every moment of it. And it was really nice that so many of my Dis friends are so happy for us! Thanks.
