Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

I can't stand the Weavers. They were saying how wrong the Linz team was because they weren't cheering for people at the baseball field yet they told the guy driving the Linz's boat to go slow. I guess it's ok for them but not for others. The Gaghans drive me crazy, too. I can't believe they were going to take the kids bungy jumping. Sorry, but I just don't think those kids are cute - just annoying.

Did they always say what the Fast Forward would be? Because before they went, they were all saying they were bungee jumping. I thought they didn't tell them what it was, becase when Uchenna and Joyce did the fast forward and she have to shave her head, they didn't know what the fast forward would be. If they did, I don't think she would have done it.

It could be because kids are involved in this, they let them know ahead of time what the task will be. I know I would not even consider taking my 9 year old bungee jumping. The Gaghan's were going to go for it. But, maybe a family like the Weaver's, the mom would of said NO WAY, and then they wouldn't have wasted time going over there. Does this make sense? I hope so. :teeth:

We use many moments of these episodes as "teaching" moments for our kids. Also, send the email. I sent one when Victoria was being "harassed/abused/denigrated/humiliated" by her husband the jerk Jonathon. I asked what they would have done to Jonathon had he pushed another player on one of the other teams? Would they have been disqualified as a team and etc.

I also asked if they would consider putting a PSA on one of the shows about abuse. I told them that I could no longer in good conscience let my children watch this season due to the abuse that I Jonathon was doing to Victoria.

During the last show of the season they did put on a PSA about abuse and I was so happy. Of course I don't think my email alone did it, but perhaps there was an outpouring of that type of email and they responded. I sent them an email thanking them for the PSA.

ETA: If you have ever seen the movie, "The Power of One", you will see what a difference one person can make.

This has to be my favorite movie!
And I can't wait for the next "regular" season of Amazing Race. This season just seams so boring compared to past episodes. I do watch regularly every week though...

I wish they would bleep as well, since this is being advertised as something the whole family can watch together. I don't consider most shows to be family entertainment, unless they are advertised that way - I've certainly never considered Survivor to be family entertainment!

And don't forget that Phil said that that was the only fast forward of the entire race.,,hmm....and I'm with everyone else, I can't stand the Weavers either, they pray to God for help then are mean to the other teams - oh please - and yes, I did hear 'SOB' a few times last night too, it made me laugh but OMG wow....and I do love Phil and his comments to the pink ladies last night, lmao that was hysterical....gotta love Phil!

I was surprised that the first team who got the fast forward (can't think of the team) chose not to do it, considering it was the only fast forward. I think that was a stupid move on their part. I know the fast forward lead only lasts a little while before everyone catches up, but the more important thing is that it gives the team a rest in not having to perform the tasks the other teams have to.

I think you folks really missed the boat on this one...did you not think the comment to the boat driver to go slow was not in jest? Like the driver of the other boat WILL go slower just because someone in one of the other boats told them to....

IMO, the weavers are the most real family of the bunch, along with the Paulos family. I wished the bunch of "ladies" had been eliminated last night.

I also like the Weaver's and I like the Gaghans. I was sorry it was non-elimination last night.

Agreed! I think it was jest as well. Anyways that wasn't a task where the Linz could screw up -- all they were doing is riding in a boat. Big difference in trying to get a 14-year-old kid to lose IMO. Like I said before they are lucky, some people would have gone and punched that Linz boy.

I can't stand the Desperate Housewives. Annoying and obnoxious.

I would like to see the profanity bleaped out & no more mooning references. I sent an email to CBS saying so and quoting Phil. I agree that many families do not speak in such a manner and, if they want families to watch, they need to remember that.

Good for you! I agree completely. They do say the "B" word a lot. I'm 20 and would never dare say it in front of my parents.

I don't see why they can't just bleep them out or edit it so that there is nothing to be bleeped out.

Ultimately, I find this edition SO boring! I can't wait until it's over. It's just too dumbed down.

The B in SOB is not a bleepable word. They could be sayinjg a lot worse than SOB. The show comes on at 9pm, does anyone remember what the rating was at the top of the show? If the rating was TV-PG-L, then that means there will be some bad language in it. If you see that rating and know that you don't want your children to hear those words, then you should change the dial.

Whew, just finished reading all 50 pages. I love this show, and I like that they have spent more time in the US.

Just a few comments: someone said something about the Schroders calling the Weavers "white trash", which in my opinion was totally uncalled for, but they did explain the reason for it on TVGuide.com. He said that it had to do with the fact they started the race wearing flip flops and they way the girls were dressed. Something to do with the length of their shorts.

It seems that most of the families started to dislike them after the bus ride and were talking about how much they whined and complained on the bus, then they started acting nutty.

As for plane tickets, I am beginning really think that the tickets were pre-purchased. It seemed a little strange that three sets of tickets were purchased and then they were sold out. What are the chances that they would have just 12 left on a flight.

I just have to say that "base hit" by the Weaver boy was ridiculous. You're telling me that pitcher could not have caught that weak grounder?

And the Weavers bother me because they do this "Lord, please let us find so and so quickly".. I don't think that's how it works!!! :rotfl:

I also think that ball hit by the Weaver kid, was intentionally not picked up. It rolled so slow, there's no way the pitcher missed that by accident. I'm sure the players were probably told if they hit the ball, let them get to first, as it was not so easy for some of them to even make contact.

I also think something was up with the plane tickets, it's not just 12 seats, it's actually 18, each team travels with a camara and video guy. I can't believe a flight actually had 18 empty seats on it ;)

It looks like our good friend "The Yield" returns next week.

I agree you could see the pitcher pull his glove up when the ball came to him heck my 9 year old could have fielded that hit and thrown him out and she doesn't even play baseball. If that is how a little league championship team plays in Panama then I doubt they will do well at the little league world series. That was just terrible I hope the rest of the tougher tasks get better atleast they have finally left the US for a bit.

I was happy to see the mom and her son 'bond' during bungee jumping, that was good to see.

I like the Weavers. That mom deserves kudos. Three teenagers, travelling (when she admitted she is not used to it), losing her husband. I say good for her. I hope they win.
