Yes, I too caught the Gaghan boy saying "why don't we ask someone". I believe it was pride cuz my husband is the SAME EXACT WAY....HE WON'T ASK QUESTIONS WHEN he's lost!!!!! Uggh!

Love the show, I'm enjoying this season, yes, I know it's not the same, but I like watching it with my children to see other kids.

Glad the widow family won first place and got a great trip out of it.

My kids are routing for the Gaghan family. I'm routing for the Gaghan family, Lintz family and the four sisters. (sigh), wished I had four sisters!

And btw....which guy was it that went up to the older gentleman during the 'covert operation' and said "Hey Pops...the sky is blue."? I found that to be pretty rude. At least most of the families are polite..dopey maybe, but polite and friendly.

I believe it was the Schroeder father. I think he also said something along the lines of "I better do this one - it might be hard". After this episode, I definitely don't like him.

I forgot which family said it but as they were on their way to DC someone asked what state Washington DC is in and then another family member answered Washington. Give these folks a map of the United States

Tonight's show was much better than last week but still not as good as the other Amazing Races.

Think it was the widow and her kids. I think the boy asked the question and I thought the Mom said we need to go to Maryland.

Although I am watching this, I don't think I like it nearly as well as the 2 person teams, there are just Too many personalities to try and keep straight. I really like the widowed mom and kids and personally would have loved to see the family that came in almost last (mom nagging all the time) lose. Between the nagging and the way she talks I am well over her. I will give it another week but it just does nothing for me this time.

I couldn't believe the Gaghan's walked around for TWO HOURS clueless about where to find the correct reflecting pool, if they do that type of thing again, they will lose for sure!

Does anyone think it is curious that the Gaghan's were able to do the physical challenge of carrying people off the field, when several other all adult teams couldn't do it, or complained they couldn't do it??

The Roger's team from Shrevesport, LA was just on CBS... there were a few things brought up... when they lost, the Mom was carried off in an ambulance, apparently she was quite sick... she sustained a concussion when she fell in the opening of the race... They didn't realize how sick she was... Also, the Shroeder's from New Orlean's came to stay with them during and after the Hurricane Katrina... The Shroeder's have NOTHING LEFT... the only thing they have are their race bag's & the clothes in them... their home has been razed to the studs.... they speak everyday apparently....

I'm watching but so far just can't get into it. It's not only the people that have made the AR great, it's where they've gone and what they do. I know it's early, but driving from NY to Penn to Washington DC and having challenges like rowing a boat across a river or walking around to "spies" just can't compare to Brazil, India, Africa, etc and having to go on a animal safari, bungy jumping, etc.

Maybe it will get a bit better, but somehow I just can't see that they are going to be able to make all that interesting of actions in the game. I really think they made a mistake in trying to proceed with the game in this way.

I was hoping the Paolo family would go this week, but after watching the comments made by the Rodgers dad... glad he is gone, what a hypocrite, Blamed his son for not finding 83, yet he was the one who told him 30East. Buh Bye!

That was definitely the Weavers/Praying family. They were also the ones who asked last week "Is Pennsylvania a state?" I was willing to chalk that one up to maybe thinking they were going to Pennsylvania St. or something. Now, I'm not so sure.

And the Shroeder dad was the guy who said "Hey Pops" and he also said something about panties being too tight when he asked someone the question and was told no.

Wow, last night was pretty dull! I too will keep watching, but hope they don't try this format again.

Did anyone else think the detour was a no brainer to do the lanterns. Carrying 5 grown men and gear on a stretcher over hilly terrain is not easy. Maybe it was editing, but the lanterns looked easy and fast.

I am surprised at how well the widow/kids are doing. Wish they wouldn't screech so much, but like them otherwise so far.

Favorite conversation of the episode was the Gaghan family at the detour (it went something like this):
Boy (whining): "Carissa's not doing anything"
Mom: "Honey, She's trying...."
Boy: "Can I have her job"

Oh I forgot to tell you.....I had a dream last night that I was on the amazing race and we were at the detour from last night. For some reason we had to switch partners and I was stuck with the Italian mom and we were doing the lantern task. She wouldn't help and all she did was whine and I had to keep yelling at her. But, it was OK in the end because we weren't eliminated.

From what I heard they at least make it up to Canada....but that's the furthest I've heard. I'm assuming they have to fly somewhere, since Phil said they don't need to pay for plane tickets or gas.

I'm also disappointed with this format, but I'll still keep watching. I'm rooting for the Gaghans as well and also the Aiello Family.

But the Paolos need to go next! I can't stand them yelling at each other!

When they showed them looking for I-83 South and the signs they were not showing the area from PA Route 30 to I 83 S. The editing showed them looking for I-83 S Baltimore from I -695 around Baltimore. Had they taken the exit they showed everyone would have landed in downtown Baltimore.

After winning another Emmy for best reality show, I can't see them submitting any taping from this edition for an Emmy nomination.

Now I would be excited if they were in my area. I think it would be cool to see all those places on TV. I enjoyed seeing Busch stadium at the end of Fever Pitch.

I didn't like him after the first episode where he said something along the lines of, I wish we had some handicapped kids we could push out into the road to cause a traffic jam.

I think I might have a high tolerance for people with inappropriate senses of humor; he bothered me last time but I thought I'd give him a chance. This week though, what an ***!

I have to agree that I miss the interest factor in the different countries and more unusual tasks. We'll still watch, though.

And it seems to me that they should have done either all adult families, or all families with, say, 2 members under 16. Some of these tasks seem dumbed down and/or much easier if you have four adults in your team. So far the Gagahn kids are holding up well, but I wonder if they'll be able to maintain it long term. Plus, kids are, well, kids, and it's difficult to keep even smart, competitive kids "focused" and on task for the several weeks involved in such a race.

BTW, the Paolo family just drives me crazy! The mom reminds me so much of my mother-in-law, I can feel my blood pressure rising every time she complains and whines! ARRRGH! And please, please, nobody blame it on them being Italian--my dad was born in Italy, came from a huge family. They were loud and boisterous, to be sure, but if anyone showed that kind of disrespect, they would have been smacked into next week!

As for the Schroeder father:

'I think she has her panties in a bunch' Because she was acting like a sneaky spy for goodness sake

I also have a high tolerance with people for off color senses of humor, but to me, those things he is saying are not humor, they're just odd. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I don't think so now.

I'm also finding this edition a little boring. Maybe it's because there are so many people to keep track of, I don't know. I'm hoping as teams are eliminated, it will get a little more exciting. I also think it's boring, because as others have said, the challenges have definitely been dumbed down and even with that, these people are having such difficulty. I can't imagine how they would be doing in another country that doesn't speak English. I hope they get on a plane real soon, because I'm getting tired of those SUV's.
