AMAZING RACE 5 - Official Thread

However, I agree that Chip & Kim seem to appreciate the trips and LOVE to visit other places, they have a good spirit among them.
I thought that was really cool that they took a few minutes to sit with the family after they delivered the furniture. At first I thought they were just catching their breath, but then I realized that they looked like they were enjoying the moment, and making the most of their brief time in Africa.

Hated to see C/M go.

Did anyone notice if they had a smaller bike that Charla could have ridden if they did the bee detour instead of the chairs? I'm going to look on Saturdays re run but I didn't notice one when I watched last night.

Colin only reafirmed my opinion of him. His girlfriend isn't much better and calling her a b would have been the least of her worries if she had done that to me. Both of them seem very comfortable being physical towards others. I can only hope an African jail is really small and really nasty.

Both the bowling Moms and Chip and Kim are my picks now.

I think there would have been a lot fewer C/M haters out there if C had a different partner. Of the two, Mirna was by far the most obnoxious, IMO.

::yes::

Personally, I will miss C/M. They kept it interesting for sure!
I wish it was the twins or Colin/Kristy that didn't make it.
Oh well, after Zach & Flo won I swore I wouldn't torture myself and watch this series anymore, and here I am glued to each episode:rolleyes:

Rooting for the bowling moms or Chip & Kim.

I love Amazing Race but I just wish it was on earlier!

Earlier? What time did it show up in Vermont? In NY it was on at 7:00 due to the Yankees game.

I so hope Colin gets his tush thrown in jail!! Just for a couple of hours!! But, I'm sure he'll be "fine" as they tend to blow things out of purportion in previews and commericals.

I'd like to see Chip/Kim, Twins, & Mom's be the 3 teams to the finish line! I do not like Colin/Christy and Brandon/??.

I think this poster meant when it is on at it's regular time at 10pm EST.

Maybe in Vermont they didn't have it early, so it would have been on at 10 for them.

But when I was watching it this week there was a pop up that said it would be back to its regular time (10pm) next week.

I think 10 is a little too late, I have to be at work at 6am, I usually stay up till 11 anyway but my DH (who has to be at work for the same time as me) can't make it to 11 and he loves to watch TAR.

It is too bad they couldn't have it on at 9.

Duh, two weeks and I forgot it was on at 10, not 9. Never mind. I'll go have my second cup of coffee now, if you don't mind :)

LOL everyweek I forget too....Im always ready for Big Brother at 8 and then I remember it is 9....and then im dissapointed I have to wait an hour...LOL

I agree with the early post about Charla and Mirna. She did a commendable job with her obvious size disadvantage, but she also got a lot of help because of it. They were rude and obnoxious and they drove me nuts. They had a fit when someone did something rude to them, but most of the time they either deserved it or did something earlier.

Colin and Christie don't bother me too much, but I don't like the way he treats her. I do think that their personality is the most suited for this type of game, whether you like it or not.

I like Chip and Kim, but I think Chip is really carrying the team. It is refreshing though to see them take the time to enjoy things. The bowling moms are also ok, but they have had a lot of help. This may be their strategy, but they are going to have to turn it on to get to the final 3.

The team I absolutely hate are the twins! I can't believe they are still here. They are idiots. They read a clue and then run around like chickens with their heads chopped off. They say the stupidest things and really have no clue. If Chip wouldn't have helped them in Egypt, they would be gone. I hope they are the next to go.

Finally, I also don't mind Brandon and Nicole too much. His faith thing is starting to get old, but they haven't gotten under my skin yet. I feel bad for them on that bus. That was a scary situation. However, I don't blame Nicole for acting the way she did. Stupid yeah, but I probably would have done the same thing. Some of those countries just have no respect for women and I think she was frustrated at getting ripped off. Others in the race have done worse things to give Americans a bad reputation.

I just watched this last night after Tivo'ing it on Tuesday.

I was pretty sad to see C/M go...like others said, as much as Mirna annoyed me, they WERE smart.

And I was actually getting choked up when Phil told them they were the last to arrive...I couldn't believe even PHIL was getting choked up!

Remember Team 9-1-1 in Africa they had run into the law too when they were lost in Africa...the camera crew had to call their people to help them out of there. It may be a different story with Colin if he loses his temper though...he needs to be taken down a couple notches!

As far as some saying Mirna was carrying the backpacks. She PAID someone to carry their bags in the last episode and I don't think that was the first time. She did nothing but complain about other people and only did ONE roadblock. Charla carried that team and got them as far as they did. She performed all the other roadblocks quickly and efficiently which kept them in the race.

I like the bowling moms but it is very clear the dark haired one (Karen?) is exhausted. I don't think it will be much longer for them.

I absolutely adore Chip and Kim and I want them to win.

My final comment "my God, it was only scrambled eggs" Yes it looked like there was a lot but it didn't look like 2 dozen regular eggs either. Colin whining it wasn't cooked enough...the texture wasn't right...too much to eat. It could have been much worse! What did they have to drink in Survivor Africa...calf's blood mixed with something else. Drink that you big baby!

"Which one of you is REALLY hungry?" made me a little nervous for them...

When I first saw the ostrich egg, I was thinking they were going to have to eat/drink it RAW.

No, I don't remember. I've only watched this AR and the last one. Can you tell me a little about it?

TIA!

Team 9-1-1 from AR3 consisted of Andre the cop and Damon the firefighter. You would think being in professions that took leadership and making life and death situations that they would have showed those characteristics in the race. They were followers and followed the rest of the teams. While they were in Marrakech and lost sight of the other teams and there was no one to follow...they of course got lost and ended many many miles from where they were suppose to be. Even though they were black and in Africa the town they ended up in was very leary of them because they were strangers and the law there was going to detain them. AR producers DID have to step in when called by the cameraman to get them on their way and out of that town safely. I do believe this is when they were eliminated too.

Am I remembering correctly any other devout AR followers?

That is pretty much what happened. Somehow they got lost (I believe their cab driver took them to the wrong place) and the officials tried to detain them. The producers had to come in and get them out. I think they were so far behind that they were taken straight to the elimination point. I felt bad for them, but they weren't very good at the race and it was time for them to go anyway.

:earseek: Wow! Thanks for the updates.

I've always found it amazing that noone has been seriously injured in any of these shows. My belly just "flip flops" when I see them on the zip lines, jumping out of airplanes, etc. Fear Factor, is another show with really dramatic "stunts" too.... I saw one where they had to drive a car onto the back of a tractor trailer truck while going very fast, while BLINDFOLDED! I was just waiting for one of those cars to overshoot the truck.

Some day, someone is going to get very hurt from one of these shows..... :(

Devout AR follower reporting for duty! That's not quite the way it went. This was in Morocco. Team 911 was in first place, and had just gotten their last clue, which directed them to the pit stop. So they got a cab and told him where they needed to go.

The cab driver though, took them off into the middle of nowhere, Morocco-style. Eventually a "local official" detained them and asked for their passports. They refused, and the AR crew eventually got them released, probably by paying the official off.

They weren't eliminated at this time, though. They finished second to last, ahead of the whiny Aaron and Arianne. But they did go from being in first place to being at the very back of the pack, pretty far behind the rest. And then the next week they were eliminated in Austria, because they fell asleep in a train and missed their stop.

I can hardly blame them for the Morocco debacle. Their driver said he knew where he was going, but either didn't or was a scam artist. But how could they know? And when they did figure it out, there wasn't much they could do about it. They really were in the middle of nowhere.

You can blame them for the train OTOH, because when they woke up they were over 100 miles past their stop! I think they had just mentally given up at that point.

Team 911 really weren't especially good racers. They just latched onto another team and followed them. That was pretty much their only strategy.

That's Chip and Kim's strategy, too, though, so I fear that their long-term prospects aren't so good. They generally allow Colin to make travel decisions, and just follow along. They have even won a couple of legs by staying close and outeating the other teams at the end.

Now that there's so few teams, though, I think that teams will stop helping each other and they'll be forced to make their own travel arrangements. So I think C&K will soon be in trouble (unless there's some more eating challenges).

A co-worker and I were discussing AR5, and she had a pretty good idea. At the midpoint of the eating challenges, why don't the twins excuse themselves and go to the restroom? Then they could come out and have the other one pick up where the first one left off. Would anyone know?

It'd be cheating, for sure. But it'd be brilliant strategy too. Which is probably why they didn't think of it!
