AMAZING article on DVC Hawaii with pics

Beautiful resort. Looks like I'm going to have to save up 2-3 years worth of points to go there. I've never been to Hawaii (not wanting to be on a plane that long), but this resort just may be the thing that gets me there. I love that there is a lot to do on the island of Oahu, other than enjoying the resort.

Thanks for sharing!

I dont know the answer to your questions but the pictures are really good!!

I just can't believe how far the building seems to be along. I think it is supposed to open fall 2011. I think it will be done far earlier. I bet it opens Spring 2011 (1 year from now).

Does anyone know when the finished the BLT building frame compared to the opening?

You're right, this is amazing. I've no real desire to sit in a plane for the amount of time it will take, but I hope that something is available at 7 months for sometime in my life, because, yes, I want to see it! We took our DSs to Hawaii for 2 weeks for our 25th anniversary celebration. Maybe we can plan on doing a GG there for our 50th...only 8 more years.

I will bet that the resort and cash rooms will be finished first. Disney can pre-sell the DVC portion and make tons of money before the DVC rooms are even all completed. They will only declare what they need for sales and the other completed rooms will be rented through CRO.

SSR and Kidani were both built that way.

You can break up the flight. We live on the east side of the continent and have gone to Maui twice. Both times we flew to LA stayed a couple of days and then on to Maui. It was about 5 hours each leg of the flight.

Can't wait for 2012 when we get to go!!

Wow! DH and I are planning on going there for our 5th wedding anniversary in 2012. Can't wait!

Wow. Construction is moving fast.

I know there's still a lot of work left, but I wonder if the resort will open before the announced "Fall 2011" target?
There were some rumors that it would be opening summer 2011 which makes sense but I suspect it will be fall for points and summer for cash. That works for DVD as well since summer is a busier time of year and opening for summer will bring in a lot of up front cash.

According to the article referring to the lagoon the hotel faces:

Are there waves?

A. No. The manmade lagoons are connected to the ocean through openings that refresh the water in the lagoons, but prevent “breakers.”

Q. What’s the water like?

A. It’s like a giant, warm, salt-water swimming pool. It’s great for wading, swimming, or just floating.

Sorry - not interested. If I'm going to fly 13 hours to Hawaii, I'll stay ay a hotel on the beach with real waves.

Thanks for posting that. The article answered lots of my questions.
We plan on going for our 20th anniversary in 2013. If we don't have enough points or there is no availability, it's good to know there will be a good amount of cash rooms. It seems to be coming along fast, as some others have noted.
I love how the frame of the buildings look like the Poly! I am so excited about this!

Thanks, love that it well have great sunsets.

The article is nothing but "spin". I've been to that area, and it needs "spin" to make it seem "ideal". Nope, I was always hoping for a Hawaii DVC, but this location and a high rise is NOT what I was hoping for. I'll stick to my trades out for Hawaii or pay cash. I'm sure I'll use Aulani for an occational night, but I don't see myself vacationing there at all.

I really, really want to go but I will have to pass on that. It is almost half way around the world from the UK, which seems a bit over the top for a 2 week vacation!

I wonder if they will serve Dole Whip at Aulani. I can't wait to begin planning a vacation here in 2012!
