Amazing Adventures of the 2013 Disney Moms Panel Search

Submitted mine from my room last night and actually I feel better! I think knowing I can go enjoy the rest of my stay and it's out of my hands makes it that way! I too answered pineapple. When we did the Dole factory tour last summer they actually said something similair to this question and said its the pineapple that makes a Dole whip a whip :) (they are really popular in HI) but I know that's not Disney :/ Pixie dust to all in November! I'm headed to MK today for MNSSHP! Woohoo!...and my dole whip.

Have a magical trip! pixiedust:

Just curious, if one is chosen for the Disney Mom's Panel what is the compensation?
Are there any out of pocket expenses if you are chosen?

I don't believe there are any out of pocket expenses, unless you purchase souvenirs while you are in WDW for training. As far as compensation, Panelists do receive a bonus trip related to the Panel they are representing (although I am not sure of any additional details surrounding that trip). I think if you ask the majority of current Panelists, in their eyes the greatest compensation is knowing that they are helping Disney guests have memorable vacations.

No compensation- its a volunteer position. They do pay for your training trip, so this would not cost you if you got selected.

I believe the panelists do get tickets or possibly a trip to wdw, but I'm not sure if this has changed. I just heard that was the case in the past.

Welcome to all the newcomers to this thread. I wish I could say Hi to each of you, but this thread has been moving at lighting speed these last few days... So welcome!

Now that we are all in the Magical Waiting Room together, does anyone want to speculate on when the Round 2 emails will be sent to the lucky candidates??

I will guess October 3. With fewer questions and fewer applications accepted, I'm thinking Round 1 won't take as long this year. :cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks for the warm welcome, Mel. October 3 sounds like a pretty good guesstimate! Hope it's not late night like last year, but either way, we shall see!!

Let me join Mel in welcoming all the newcomers as well! It really is great to have people to share this experience with, even if it's just virtually! :)

Oct. 3rd is a good guess but I can't remember - do the emails usually go out in the middle of the week or are they always sent on a Monday so we have a full 5 weekdays to get the answers for the next round in? Could it be as early as Oct. 1?!?!

I think last year they were actually sent on a Saturday, so who knows? :confused3

I'm going to place my bets on the afternoon of October 5th.

Good morning! I just submitted my entry for the Disneyland panel :goodvibes

Last year I made it to Round 2 in the WDW panel, but this past year I've made more trips to DL, so I thought I'd give that one a try this year.

Best of luck to everyone!!! :cheer2:

Last year, we got Round 2 emails on the 8th, which was a Saturday. Then, the submission period for Round 2 opened up on Monday the 10th and had to be completed by October 14th.

The year before, Round 2 emails went out on the 12th, which was a Tuesday. The applications were available immediately and had to be done by the 15th.

So...now I'm second guessing myself about the Dole Whip answer and the When did you hear about the Moms panel...

I think remember that the only actual "dole whip" flavor at WDW is Pineapple. It can be swirled with soft serve vanilla ice cream or orange sherbet and floated in juice. I could be wrong, but this was the basis of my "pineapple" answer.

I am sure I did not answer the essay question well enough to advance. I planned to go back and review it before I submitted but hit the "submit" button by accident thinking it was the "next" button. (My excitement got the best of me!)

This was my first year applying and I was shocked at how short the application was!! I also wish there was a way to apply for more than one category- ie: WDW and DCL! Oh well, there is always next year!

Good luck to everyone- :cheer2:

I agree and wish there was a way to apply to more than 1 category :)

Hang in there everyone - you're all amazing! Don't second guess - it's like an exam. Your first reaction is always the best response! Be secure in your extensive knowledge and especially your love and passion of all things Disney! Most of all, picture receiving that exciting "you made round 2" email coming and it will come true!

Remember what Walt Disney said: "if you can dream it, you can do it"!

Loads of :grouphug: and :tink:

Laura

it said that last year as well, but everyone got an email either way. Well, almost everyone, I remember 2 or 3 people that I don't think ever got an email after round two. :confused3 I felt awful for them.

Yep, I was one of those!!! But obviously I got over the disappointment because I'm back! I like this year's application questions, so I had fun amidst the anxiety of filling it out! Here's pixie dust to everyone and may the next couple of month fly by on Tinker Bell wings!

Agreed! I LOVED the little mermaid question!

I think I finally hit the "whatever" point... Every year I stress out and second-guess my answers and bite my nails down hoping to advance. This time, I just popped on, answered the questions, professed my undying love for DCL, and hit "submit." Can't even say for sure what I put -- I just typed my heart, with a smile, and that was that. If anything comes of it, great, if not, that's fine too. :goodvibes

Good luck to everyone! :cheer2:

I'm right there with you. Being on the Moms Panel would be a DREAM, and I think I have the knowledge and experience to be part of the team. However, the odds are not in my favor; so from this year forward, I will do my best, and move on with a smile no matter the outcome. If I get a round 2 email, I will be ecstatic. If I don't, I will cheer on those who do. Sure, there will be a little envy, but I am truly blessed, and I'm going to focus on the positive!
