Hi again all:wave:

I'm about to book a Makahiki character breakfast for the first full day of our vacation, but I've already got a casabella booked for that day.

I don't want to be rushing our meal, but equally am worried about our casabella reservation.
How long roughly does the character buffet take?

If I don't arrive for our casabella for 9am is that a problem? I'm worried that we will be treated as a no show and it given to someone else. Is there something I can do the day before ? Possibly visit the check in desk and let them know that we have a breakfast reservation but will definitely be there once we're done?

Many thanks for any advice:thumbsup2

You have a window from 9 - 10 to book it before they go to any waitlist. I had booked the upper veranda last month for all the days I was there. You get both casabellas and that whole deck to yourself, which was a nice surprise (previously, I was told it was just one casabella in the area and had only rented cabanas/exec. lanai). You will enjoy it. The area is very private (but shaded) and overlooks the lagoon. It is away from the pools, but it takes a short walk to get to everything.

Thanks so much for replying :thumbsup2

That's great to know about the 9-10am window, I think I'll go ahead and book the 8.15am Makahiki slot, as no way will my boys need over an 1 & 3/4 hours to eat at a buffet!:rotfl2:

Can I just ask - is the whole of the area shaded? We've actually reserved the casabella for every day of our stay as I was worried about not having a base at the pool (having read about them moving your things if you've left the seat for too long) - but I am a sun worshipper! So whilst some shade will be good for the boys, I need to be able to sunbathe! Should I rethink the casabellas?:confused3

Many thanks for your help:thumbsup2

You will not be able to sunbathe there most of the day. In the afternoon some sun peeks through, but the area is surrounded by trees on one side.
Not sure how old your kids are, but I always accompanied DD to the pool or beach, so I was out in the sun most of the time. During our last trip, the weather in Maul during our first week was a little gloomy. I didn't get my tan until I got to Oahu. I got it from walking around and being in the pools/lagoon for the most part.

I think I'll go and check out the area on our arrival day, and even if we need to keep the first booking due to the cancellation policy I guess we could cancel the other days, if the shade is too much.

My DH tends to stay with the boys, who are 8 and 11, as he cant sit still and all three of them love the water. I admit I am more of a sunbather, who take short, infrequent dips to cool down, so am thinking that the casabella might not be suitable for us. That's a real shame, as I liked the idea of having a base that we knew was ours regardless of how long we were away from it. Looks like it's back to the drawing board!:scratchin
