Hi there,
we fly on sunday.. and ds2 who is 10 months has had a horrible cold this week, and also cut his first 2 teeth on wednesday and today... yesterday he did 5 slightly dodgy nappies, then this am the biggest one ever and since that one he has had 3 really watery ones... he's eating fine, and I was hooping that it is just teeth and his cold, but they do seem really bad.

I live in fear of tummy bugs and have been dreading getting one when away, but to possibly have one just as we are about to fly...

Anyone had this happen before? Anyone got some comforting words for me about it being teeth and his cold? (although I really don't think it's that)

What happens if he's fine for the flight but then any of us go down with it on the flight? I'm always paranoid about seatbelt signs and having to run to the loo...

Really need some kind helpful words, dh just says 'ah it'll be fine, can't do anything about it' but i'm in tears and so worried :sad1:

This is our big holiday :sad1:

Thank you

I am not from the UK so hope it is ok to answer this question but....... My kids ALWAYS get upset stomachs when they are getting teeth in, they also always look like they have a cold as they have a constant running nose and are salivating so bad it causes them to cough. MIL is a pediatric nurse and says it is very common. Also common to get a slight fever. And all the mucus from a running nose dripping into the stomach will cause upset tummies too if there is a cold. Sorry to be gross guess I am just used to it listening to it all the time from MIL lol. You just have to wait it out good luck!

Yeah the nappies are definitely related to the teeth, just keep up with the calpol and they should be fine :)

:goodvibes

Good luck! And if you really needed to use the loo when the seatbelt sign was on, you can. One of my children had to go desperately and I asked the flight attendent what to do. She said it was my decision if I wanted to take the risk of hitting turbulance, but they wouldn't stop me.

Thanks everyone that is so helpful and encouraging. It's what I wanted / needed to hear. Our GP just checked him over this afternoon and his ears and chest are clear, so that's one thing I don't need to worry about (post having a cold). He only had 1 tiny poop this evening, so maybe the worst is over.

Jaberwock, thanks for all the info. really encouraged me, and not too much info for me :) (no we don't mind that you aren't from the UK!)

mrsaunders, thanks for the tip about the loo too. I had been ill the day before we flew home last time, and I did ask about this... they were a bit vague, but I was kind of thinking that they would be hard pressed to stop someone who was determined to get there... they don't lock the toilets?

Thanks again everyone. I'm feeling a bit better about it now x

I'm pleased that the doctor and everyone on here has put your mind at ease, I hope you all have a fantastic holiday, have fun ::yes::

I know exactly what your going through, we flew with DD at 5months and had the same situation. Have you used teething powders? These help settle their tummies when they are teething and I've found they do help with some of the dodgy nappies.
Boots do their own brand which are really good (and sold in the airport). :)

Try not to worry, I'm sure it will all be fine and you'll have a wonderful time.
