I was at work yesterday, discussing with some coworkers about my upcoming WDW trip, I mentioned I was making our own tshirts for our group when one coworker called me a weirdo. It did offend me. I know I'm a disney freak but not a weirdo. Do ya think shes jealous?????? See ya at POP CENTURY on opening day!!

I've always admired groups with tastefully done custom clothing! Last July 4th there was a family with embroidered golf shirts and matching safari-style hats that all said "Miller Family WDW Safari, 4th annual outing" or something like that. It was cool.

DH and I don't get custom made clothing, but we do both have identical WDW t-shirts in several colors, which we frequently coordinate. Next time we take extended family, I think we will get special shirts made up.

Your co-worker is definately jealous (and I am a little bit too, since you'll be there really soon!).

Have a great trip!

I've been thinking about making shirts for my family, so I doubt any of your Dis friends will think you're weird. We all know that Disney is just a lot of fun, and for those who don't get it, it's their loss.

Hmm . . . must go to Hobby Lobby today! I think you just inspired me to really do it!

Your coworker just doesn't get it! We all do! It is as simple as that. Enjoy your trip!

Hi-

I think that some people just don't get the whole Disney thing and that is fine. I am sure that your coworker participates in activities that you might find weird but would choose to keep that information to your self.

I love when people get into the spirit of things; I think t-shirts are a lot of fun. My DH (who enjoys Disney but is not as fanatical as myself) would NEVER wear a matching shirt- I tell him that he is a party pooper! I often see couples wearing matching shirts and I am envious because I think they look cute.

The trend of wearing matching shirts has caught on big time and the Disney catalog even offers custom made t-shirts especially for family gatherings at their theme parks

I have been accused of being weird when it comes to all things Disney but I accept that as a compliment!!!! Celebrate weirdness-it makes you different from your cooworker and that is a good thing!!!!!! If you want your family to wear matching shirts then you go for it and wear them proudly!!!!!!!

It's like Dr. Phil says, "you either get it, or you don't." Some people just don't get Disney. You are one of the lucky ones that does! One year we made the mistake of going to Disney with another couple that definitely did not get it. They almost ruined our time. They kept calling DH and I weird for wearing our Mickey ears. Wear your special t-shirts and be proud that you are one of the ones that gets it!

How rude, no you are not a weirdo, and yes I'd say that she is very jelous. Enjoy your trip.

I think the whole matching shirts thing is really fun! We recently had a family portrait made where our entire family was wearing the same thing, khakis and white oxford shirts.

On the night we go to MVMCP, we'll be matching.....

I'll be wearing this...

...and my DBF and my DS11 will be wearing this....

I guess I'm lucky that they're such good sports! :teeth:

I wouldn't worry about it. I guess this is her way of letting you know that she wishes she was in your shoe's and going without actually saying it to you. When I was younger my parents would do the whole shirt thing on vacation and most thought it was nice.

We would be going new years week this year, but a friend got us a great package deal to Hawaii that we couldn't resist, so we are pushing WDW back :( .

All we ask is for you to leave some disney fun for our trip.

Have a great time at WDW

I think your co-worker was very rude as well. She has to be jealous, lacking common courtesy or self-awareness.
My family and I call each other "weirdo".all the time, but not in an ill-spirites way. We all actually laugh about it. I know I do when my sister calls me that because I AM A WEIRDO :p , and I have fun with that! We have that close, joking relationship, and we all know each other VERY well. We don't ever call names to offend people, and we never do it seriously. And we also only feel comfortable being this way around our close friends and family. I would never call a co-worker, an acquaintance, my dad's new girlfriend, or anyone else who has their heart in something, a "weirdo". BTW, I love the T-shirt idea.

I agree that your coworker was extremely rude.

Although I'm not one to do the whole matching shirts thing, I certainly don't have a problem with others doing it, and would never call anyone weird for it.

I agree - your co worker doesn't get it - but I DO disagree with the folks who are saying it's a Disney thing - I think it's more of a FAMILY thing.

When I was a kid - my mom would make us all matching outfits for vacation - we color coordinated the whole trip - generally red/white/blue - or just red/white or blue/white depending on what fabric she found on sale. There were shorts/pants/tops - even dresses for the girls, and matching shirt for dad. ::yes::

I've tried to do this with my guys - but being the lone woman - they don't want to do it.

Oh well - actually now that the boys are into the teen years - they are more open.

For past 5 years we go to visit our families at Christmas - we ALWAYS have our matching Santa Hats that we wear on the trip. This year I've added elf hats I got at the dollar store for variety... :hyper:

Ignore your co worker - she/he's jealous!!

You're not weird...you co-worker is rude!

Like some other posters, I am not into matching outfits, but I always figured that those who do it find it fun. And fun is what's it's all about, no matter how you go about it. Let's face it, if we were all the same, it would be a pretty boring world.

It sounds like your co-worker has forgotten what "fun" is.

Hope you have a wonderful time in the World wearing your t-shirts!!!!

No, they just don't understand Disney people. But than they may never understand true happiness.

:D ... Disneyaholic like the rest of us. Everyone at work comes to me for WDW advice and planning info. I've even gone as far as finding cheap air fares and discount codes for people. One person I helped told me I was sick and obsessed and with WDW. I told her this sick and obsessed person just saved her around $750 for her trip. She apologized!!!!

As for the t-shirts, I think they are great on family groups. I just hate seeing them on all the Brazilians in July!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Wear the t-shirts proudy knowing that you're not the only "weird" WDW person out there!!!!!!!!!:D

Your coworker is not very professional to say that to you at the work place. I think she is tacky and has poor behavioral skills. She doesn't sound like a person that I'd want to be around.

Have fun at Disney, and remember that your coworker probably doesn't have much fun.

Well, then we all are!!!!!!!!!

I agree, they don't get it. And so what if you are a Disneyholic - there are far worse things to be adicted to!!!!! Matching shirts are good on alot of different levels. Aside of knowing who you belong to....(which is great for a lost child) It makes you easier to find, when you do get lost (or loose one of your party) It's fun to make your own T's, and if you are really good at it......you get ALOT of compliments.

Just tell them, everyone needs a little Mickey.....without it, you are incomplete!
