Am I too late?

Family of 4 and it is our first trip to Disney world. Having never heard of renting/buying points until yesterday I'm totally lost on this info., sorry. Very interesting, are we too late to rent points for a villa for a trip June 11-18+- of this year?

You will need to check out the rent/trade board. You have to be logged in to see posts I believe. Read ALL the sticky notes and jump in head first. Still ask questions here if you need help.

Unfortunately, those dates may be difficult. At 60 days out, any unreserved DVC rooms are turned over for cash reservations. They can be reclaimed by DVCers, but only if they haven't already been rented.

Plus, it is a fairly popular time of year for school vacations, there may be a day here ot there, but I doubt you'd find availability in the same room at the same resort for the entire stay, unless someone has a reservation that is already booked that they won't be using. But they can't post those on the rent/trade board until 30 days out.

My guess is yes, you are too late for this year. But honestly, on a first trip to WDW, I think you are better off with traditional CRO reservations anyway. WDW can be an overwhelming place, and dealing with a DVC owner to rent a room adds complexity to the trip - and takes away flexibility you may find yourself wanting with a first trip.

If you know enough to know what you want and what you can be flexible on, DVC rentals can be an awesome deal. But as you said "you don't know what you don't know until you start to know it." Next trip you'll have the lay of the lands down, and be a little more ready to deal with DVC rentals.

CRO = Central Reservatins Office, also known as Disney Travel Company, the cash booking office for Disney resorts. For instance, if you book "online" at Disney.com it is considered a CRO reservation.
