Am I too late already?

Not sure where to post this, but since it definitely involves a room on property, I'll start here.

It just occurred to me that I might want to plan a 2021 trip (DD's high school graduation adds to the occasion).

Am I too late already? Any thoughts on strategies? Any threads I could monitor for info?

Too late? Not at all. A lot will change between now and 2021 but I think that advance planning will give you a good idea about all the things you want to do and see on your trip.

I would suggest you just start hanging out on the boards, read the posts on the forums here and then you can start getting to "know" Disney through other folks questions and answers. Before you know it you wil be participating and asking questions of your own. Happy Planning!.

I have a feeling that 2021 planning will bring a whole new meaning to "competitive sport" so I will definitely be checking here frequently...just wanted to make sure I'm not behind the curve already!

LOL! Not behind at all. WE are in the beginning phases of a late 2018 trip. Normally I woudl nto even think about this level of advance planning, but because of all the changes, and because we have two family members who will be seeing Disney for the first time, (well one niece was there with me 12 years ago) we want the expereince to be special.

Nope, not too late. We are thinking of going either around Thanksgiving or some time in December and haven't even decided on dates yet. Probably won't until mid-October or early November and I have no doubt we will get a room somewhere.

We will be booking for 2021 as soon as we can! Going for Yacht Club that year...along with everyone else I bet! Star Wars Land supposedly should be open for about 2 years by then.

Yes you are far too late. We are already camping out for tickets! and we are professionals.pirate:
And are you saving space in line for your favorite 200 people as well? :) I'll be lurking the boards for sure, though, to see what professionals are doing to get inl for the anniversary year...

Why Yacht Club? Anything that makes it special for the anniversary?

You can walk to both DHS (new Toy Story and Star Wars Land) and Epcot! (all the new rides/updates) :) Or Beach Club, Boardwalk, Swan/Dolphin - any of those are good options.

I'm going to be trying hard to book the Contemporary. I bet competitive won't even begin to describe trying to book things for the anniversary.

My hope is because Star Wars should be open for nearly two years by then, with early planning it shouldn't be too bad! :)

Still got a couple years to go! I know I'm gonna be booking the Poly for the week of the 50th the first day I can!

No where near too late, I just booked for a few weeks from now .... BUT remember that will be Magic Kingdom (and really all of WDW resorts) 50th Birthday year. LOTS will be happening, new things opening and many people will be booking to go. I suggest you book as early as you can in whatever room you would be happy in and be able to afford just in case discounts are more rare that year.

Definitely not too late! Shoot, you're ahead of me! I'm planning a summer 2018 trip with some friends, and we haven't booked our resort yet. With it being the 50th anniversary, stay on high alert to book as soon as you can, but you still have awhile to go.
