DBF and I had planned a trip for Aug 25-31st long before FD came out. We were booked in a preferred room @ Sports and already had the DDP added to our account.

Then they announced FD. Since we were saving 400 I got overly excited and wanted to stay moderate. Now that we are booked at CBR i'm having 2nd thoughts. Is staying at CBR that much better than a preferred at an AllStar. And is it worth the extra money? At this point we plan on having full park days each day, with a 3 hour afternoon break for swimming and napping.

What do you think? I think i'm having buyers remorse!

Only you can determine if it's worth it. However, these are the selling points of CBR over Sports.

Bigger rooms
Double sinks
Nicer landscaping
Very relaxing atmosphere - which to us is key when taking a break form the parks
Covered bus stops
Pool slides
Hot tubs
Table service restaraunt
Bike, surrey bike and boat rentals

CBR is our favorite resort and I think you guys would really enjoy it. But again, the worth question is only one that you can answer. Whatever you choose, remember you are going to Disney World!!! :thumbsup2

Upgrading up a level of resorts is always a plus. You will never regret it. Mods are always great just for the layout, they are always more laid back.

I think you get MORE for your money staying at a mod. At a value you usually only get QSDP free. If you stay at a mod you get DDP free. (Unless it is different than usual this time)

SO I would choose based on which dining plan you would prefer. The mod has nicer amenities. But you will save money on the room by staying value and you will still get free dining, just the lower cost version.

But for me, if staying in a mod only cost the $400 difference you saved by getting the dining plan for free I would definitely choose mod over value. I would for sure try to book a preferred room if they still have available for free dining just so you will be close to the main lobby/food area.

Another mod you might want to consider if you haven't already booked would be POR. They have the best food court on property and they have Boatwrights sit down restaurant. Request a preferred room and you will be within a 2 minute walk to the lobby and main pool and the grounds are beautiful. I wouldn't want to be in a back of the property building though. I would definitely book preferred wherever you stay if being close to everything is important to you. Also POR has a boat that takes you either down to its' sister resort POFQ or all the way on to DTD. You can rent bikes, boats, and fishing equipment. It also has a pool slide.

CBR is very big and very spread out though so you might end up getting stuck way in the back if you don't book preferred. That is the only thing I would be concerned with.

I would absolutely NEVER regret picking a mod over a value. If your plan was to use TS restaurants with your original dining plan then CBR is your best bet. If you stayed in a value the free plan would be CS credits only. Plus, if you are planning on spending the afternoons at the resort/pool, then mods have a huge leg up in that department over a value. Plus, CBR is a really relaxing resort.

Stop fretting! The difference between the value and the mod is HUGE (to us) and will make your trip that much more enjoyable. I questioned myself when we had a discount on our last trip that allowed us to upgrade from POP to POFQ. It was such a better experience than past trips at POP. I am totally sold on mods now and am glad that discount gave us the chance to try it out to see. There are so many perks that the mods have over the values that other posters have stated that will enhance your stay. Don't second guess yourself; you'll be so glad you switched!

Stop worrying! This is the best opportunity to do it, and who knows when you'll be in that position again? Go for it, have a magical trip! :wizard:

We did the exact same thing. We were giving up our WP&F option to stay at CBR and it was still costing us almost 600.00 more. In the end it wasn't worth it for us. I have stayed at all levels and really like POP century.

But we also prefer the QSDP since we don't really like being schedued to adr's to much. We do pay OP for 2 TS meals and those still come in cheaper than tips.

In the end of the day 400.00 to some people isn't alot of money but I would rather do other things with 400.00. We aren't park commado either we spend quite a bit of time at the resort since we go for 11 days.

I guess it depends on how much that 400.00 means to you?

Thank you everyone for the replies. I'm still back and forth.

CBR scares me for how spread out it is, and the fact that I can't afford to stay preferred there.

I was ready to send an email to my TA today to tell her to put us in a preferred at a Value, but couldn't make myself hit send.

I just don't know what to do.

I can tell you from personal experience, the walk to OPR and the main pool is right at 5 minutes from either Aruba 51 or Jamaica 45. At a very leisurely pace. I was also concerned before we went and could not have been more wrong.

I really did time the walk from our room to the Food Court in OPR because I saw so many people on here complaining about how far everthing is.

Not trying to sway your decision, just trying to give you correct information.

I agree with Dansdad. The walks really aren't that bad at the CBR. Let's see if I can put the walking into perspective. The walk around the entire resort promenade (excluding the village of Trinidad South where the pirate rooms are) is 1.4 miles all the way around. Old Port Royale (the main pool, food court, marina, etc.) is located approximately in the middle of the promenade. So, even if you are in one of the furthest buildings, your walk won't be, roughly, more than half of 1.4 miles.

We were placed in one of the furthest buildings in Jamaica and our walk to OPR was about 5 minutes at a leisurely pace. Even my 78 year old mother had no issues with the walk.

Keep in mind that there are bus stops in each resort village so you won't have to walk to one central location to catch a bus.
